Frieze Los Angeles Unveils Immersive "Inside Out" Project
Frieze Los Angeles is gearing up for its most ambitious Frieze Projects program yet, "Inside Out." Opening February 20th, 2024, "Inside Out" will transform the Santa Monica Airport into an immersive art experience, featuring the work of eight artists exploring themes of identity, migration, and the city’s rich cultural tapestry.
“Inside Out,” curated by Aren’t You Glad You Didn’t Miss Their Work, wants to be both a celebration of culture and a way for the city to look in and see itself.
"Inside Out" invites visitors to experience Los Angeles in a whole new light, celebrating the way art can question and transform our perspectives.
Curated by Art Production Fund, "Inside Out" transcends traditional exhibition formats. Each artist creates an experience designed to engage multiple senses and reflect the dynamism of Los Angeles.
Lita Albuquerque, a pioneer of the Land Art and Light & Space movements, will present an ethereal piece meditating on humanity’s connection to nature – rendered in her signature ultramarine blue. Guatemala-born, Los Angeles-based artist Jackie Amézquita invites visitors to traverse a dynamic social map, weaving togethermigration data and inviting visitors to uncover personal stories. A number of the works on view reflect the growing appetite for immersive art experiences. You’ll explore a welcoming façade of terracotta, ceramics, and living plants, created by Joel Gaitan, celebrating Miami and Nicaraguan roots.
