Late-Night Legend David Letterman Returns with His Own 24/7 Streaming Channel
A Blast from the Past: 4,000 Hours of Letterman Moments
In a move that’s sure to thrill late-night die-hards, David Letterman is making a big comeback – and he’s taking his iconic late-night wit to the streaming world. Letterman has teamed up with Samsung TV Plus to launch “Letterman TV,” a brand-new, free ad-supported channel offering 24/7 access to a treasure trove of iconic moments from his storied career. “I’m very excited about this,” said Letterman, with a hint of his trademark dry humor. “Now I can watch myself age without looking in the mirror!”
The channel is set to leverage nearly three decades’ worth of legendary clips from Letterman’s late-night empire, spanning his time on both NBC’s “Late Night” and CBS’s “The Late Show.”
Viewers can expect to see everything from his famous Top Ten lists and “Stupid Tricks” segments to his legendary sit-downs with A-list stars, hilarious holiday specials, and even intimate behind-the-scenes footage. The channel promises to be more than just a nostalgia trip. Fresh commentary from Letterman himself will provide witty context and keep the laughter coming.
Samsung TV Plus Gets a Big Win
The deal is the latest in a string of high-profile additions for Samsung TV Plus, a fast-growing free ad-supported streaming service that comes pre-installed on Samsung TVs. The company boasted about its expanding subscriber base, revealing for the first time that it has amassed 88 million monthly active users, an impressive number in an increasingly competitive streaming landscape.
“We’ve seen over 50 percent increase in global viewership year-over-year,” sasid a Samsung Corporate representative, spotlighting the service’s strong growth.
Although Samsung TV Plus is making waves, it’s still working towards catching up to established players like Roku, Tubi, and Pluto TV, each of which appears ahead in Nielsen’s latest Gauge, a monthly tracker of TV usage.
“At Samsung TV Plus, we aim to build a home for entertainment that feels personal, meaningful, and accessible to everyone,” said Salek Brodsky, senior vice president and general manager at Samsung TV Plus.
“David Letterman is a living legend whose humor and conversations have entertained and inspired generations.”
Brodsky added, ”
With ‘Letterman TV,’ we’re proud to bring his iconic interviews and comedy to a new audience while giving longtime fans a chance to revisit and enjoy the moments that make him such a beloved figure in television.”
