Robert De Niro, Ben Stiller Returning For New Film

De Niro, Stiller, Polo and Danner Set to Reunite for ‘Meet the Parents’ Sequel

A beloved comedy franchise could be getting a whole new chapter. Robert De Niro, Ben Stiller, Teri Polo and Blythe Danner are— “in early talks to return for a new installment in the ‘Meet the Parents’ franchise. Sources say a new chapter is in development at Universal Pictures.

John Hamburg, who co-wrote all three previous films in the series and produced the most recent installment, Little Fockers, is set . Plot details are being kept under wraps. No word yet on who’s directing.

Producers Jane Rosenthal and De Niro will be back through Tribeca Productions, alongside Jay Roach, who directed the first two films in the franchise. Stiller and John Lesher are also returning to produce through Red Hour Films. Executive Vice President of Production Development Matt Reilly and Director of Production Development Jacqueline Garrell are overseeing the project for Universal.

 

De Niro and Stiller’s Bickering Will Continue

The “Meet the Made Parents” franchise centers on the hilariously awkward and tension-filled dynamics between male nurse Greg Focker (Stiller) and his intimidating ex-CIA father-in-law, Jack Byrnes (De Niro).

The original 2000 comedy was a box office sensation and a critical darling, grossing over $330 million globally
