FedEx Strengthens European Presence with New Logistics Hub in Czech Republic

FedEx has opened a new logistics facility in Plzeň, Czech Republic, expanding its footprint in Central and Eastern Europe.

The 2,600-square-meter facility includes both warehouse and office space and will add 23 docking bays for delivery vans and eight docking bays for long-distance vehicles. The site features sustainable features like solar panels and an electric vehicle charging station.

This expansion is part of FedEx’s ongoing commitment to strengthening its presence in the region. The company highlighted Plzeň’s strategic importance as a crucial European logistics hub.

A Hub for Regional Growth

“This new facility enhances our ability to deliver reliable, innovative solutions to meet our customers’ growing international needs,” said Mariusz Mik, vice president of ground operations in the Nordics and Eastern Europe. “It is another vital step in our strategy to support economic growth in Central and Eastern Europe and expand our regional presence.”

Connecting the Region

Located in Plzeň, the new FedEx facility has convenient access to the FedEx European Road Network and connects with other FedEx centers in major cities like Hanover, Vienna, and Nuremberg. Over 1.3 million weekly shipments pass through this extensive network, covering 45 nations across Europe. Moreover, the facility benefits from access to the FedEx Air Network through the capital city’s airport, providing additional logistical flexibility.

Expanding Footprint in the Czech Republic

FedEx is actively expanding its operations across the Czech Republic.
Currently operating five locations in the country, the company opened its largest facility – a 10,000-square- meter hub – in 2022.

This latest investment in Plzeň reinforces FedEx’s commitment to the region and aligns with a broader strategy of modernizing and establishing new logistics centers in six countries across Central and Eastern Europe over the past years.

Supporting Economic Growth

“With the opening of this new facility, the firm aims to strengthen its commitment to promoting local companies, fostering regional economic growth and establishing the Czech Republic as a vital European logistics hub,” a company spokesperson said.
