La Rochelle‘s Ronan O’Gara Has Big Coaching Ambitions
While his focus remains firmly fixed on delivering silverware with La Rochelle, Ronan O’Gara isn’t hiding his ambition to one day coach at the highest level.
"There are Test jobs I’d bite people’s hands off for," O’Gara admitted.
It’s a natural progression for the Ireland legend who, after bringing two European Cups to La Rochelle, is inevitably on the radar of international teams.
“That usually works itself out if you’re good enough at your club. You’ve got to have those ambitions, I think, because you want to be the best you can be.”
Asked if he might be a contender in the event of a Wales coaching reshuffle following their record losing run under Warren Gatland, he replied, “I haven’t thought about that, to be honest with you; without lacking humility, I’d prefer Ireland, England or France.”
Building a Legacy in France
His contribution to French club, La Rochelle’s success, has undeniably earned him a place in Cajun hearts. O’Gara’s potential availability won’t go unnoticed by the three nations.
