Did He Get ‘Canceled?’ Zachary Levi Addresses Trump Support Claims
Zachary Levi, star of movies like "Shazam!" and the former hit NBC show "Chuck," recently tackled headlines about his political stance, leaving no room for spectacles.
The conversation emerged during Levi’s appearance on comedian Bill Maher’s "Club Random Podcast". Maher, known for his outspoken criticisms of "cancel culture," jumped right into the topic of Levi’s public support for pro-Donald Trump sentiments. Curious if Levi had faced professional consequences, Maher asked, "You got canceled for basically saying certain things. Didn’t you lose jobs for that?"
Levi, surprised by the question, chuckled and replied god-no. "Have I been canceled? (Laughs) Well, I hope I haven’t been canceled yet. I mean, if it happens, it happens."
"Isn’t that what canceling is?" Maher pressed. “For coming out and voting for Trump?”
"I mean, listen, I have yet to see what the ultimate effects of all that are going to be," Levi explained. "I already had multiple jobs that I was in the process of shooting or that I have yet to shoot, and none of those have been compromised.
"All of those, like none of my producers or any of these studios behind those films or projects have called and said, ‘Hey, listen, this is a line too far and we can’t have you associated with the project anymore’." They’re all still full speed ahead.
Levi admitted that he hasn’t fully grasped the long-term impact. "How it ultimately plays out in the future, I don’t know. You know, I’m going to sit down with my team at some point to talk it through because I haven’t talked to them about it lately, as I was in Eastern Europe making this movie during the entire election. I mean, I was kind of disconnected a lot from what was going on other than social media and follow the news and kind of saw things play by play. But maybe they’ve had calls with some people who don’t want to work with me anymore."
Bill Maher responded, “I could have sworn that already happened yet?”
Levisly smiled, “No."
