Tampa Bay Welcomes Back Key Players for Canucks Matchup
The Tampa Bay Lightning received a boost to their lineup Sunday as star forward Nikita Kucherov returned from an undisclosed injury. Kucherov had been sidelined for two games and missed action since November 29th. He was back on the ice for a full practice on Saturday, signaling his readiness to rejoin the team.
Kucherov’s Absence Felt, Return Celebrated
“No coach wants to have their top players out of the lineup, and we got by without him,” coach Jon Cooper said. “It wasn’t pretty at times, but he’s such a lift to us. In a league where it’s so hard to score, to have somebody that’s gifted in that area, you want him in your lineup, and he’s been such an important part of our organization for a long time, it’s most definitely better to have him in than out.”
Kucherov’s offensive prowess is undeniable, leading the Lightning this season with 34 points – a total comprised of 12 goals and 22 assists – in just 22 games.
Adding to the positive news, forward Mitchell Chaffee also returned to action Sunday after missing four games due to an undisclosed injury. Chaffee has contributed nine points this season (five goals and four assists) in 20 games.
A Full Roster for the First Time in Weeks?
“We should have our full team available today,” Cooper said confidently. “Again, we’ll see after warmups, but I’m confident for the first time in a long time we’ll have hopefully everybody available.”
If both Kucherov and Chaffee are indeed in the lineup as expected, it will mark the first time in weeks that Tampa Bay has had its full roster at its disposal. This presents a welcome opportunity for the team to regain momentum and re-establish its offensive firepower.
Does Mark Johnson believe that Tampa Bay’s experience will be a factor in the game against Vancouver?
