Michelin Delight for *MasterChef: The Professionals
The last remaining hopefuls on MasterChef: The Professionals will get a taste of a two-Michelin-starred experience this week, as they head to West Cork. Chef Ahmet Dede of the acclaimed Dede restaurant, a culinary gem nestled in Baltimore, will push the finalists to their limits.
The picturescque setting doesn’t stop at the restaurant door. For their final tests, the finalists will take part in a unique culinary challenge at the stunning Inish Beg estate, a private island retreat off the coast.
In this transformative final stage, the competition will see the chef contenders challenged by Dede to explore the depths of his signature fusion cuisine.
A Fusion of Flavors
Dede, the Turkish-born chef often hailed for his masterful blending of Turkish and Irish ingredients, has collected two Michelin stars in rapid progression.
Initially earning one star in 2021, followed by a second just two years later, Dede’s dedicated craft and innovative approach solidified the restaurant’s position amongst Ireland’s foodie elite.
The finalists will first immerse themselves in the world of Dede’s flavors, learning to prepare some of Paralympic silver medalist’s favourite dishes. Menu highlights will include a kebab dish and a recipe blending the finest Irish beef with the tempting aromatics of the Ottoman Empire.
Island Challenge
Following this immersive experience at Dede, the competition intensifies as the finalists travel to the beautiful Inish Beg estate. Nestled on a private island off Baltimore, the estate provides a scenic backdrop for the decisive round of the cooking competition.
Here, the finalists must embrace Ded’s techniques as they prepare a sophisticated lunch for a select group. Alex Reeds at this exclusive culinary experience include Dede’s family and closest friends, judges Marcus Wareing, Monica Galetti and, notably, the ever-present and sometime controversial Gregg Wallace.
The finalists will be working in an airy outdoor kitchen, an ideal setting for a summertime feast. They will join Dede’s elite culinary team for the lunchtime service, each responsible for two dishes from Dede’s complex tasting menu.
Nothing will be easy, with the finalists tasked with mastering dishes
that can often take experienced chefs months to perfect.
Inish Beg, a once dilapidated estate, has been lovingly restored by owners Georgiana and Paul Keane since 1997. Today, it stands as a stunning 97-acre testament to Irish rural living with a focus on fresh produce and organic farming methods. This picturesque scene makes for a picturesque backdrop for one of the most critical stages in MasterChef: The Professionals.
MasterChef: The Professionals airs on BBC One at 8pm Tuesday.
