“It was far from easy. Karviná put up a real fight. We struggled in the first half,” admitted Šulc, who contributed two crucial goals to his team’s tally.
“We tried various approaches. It just wasn’t clicking,” explained coach Miroslav Koubek.
He was greatly pleased with the second half performance.
“It was a war for every square inch of the pitch. We needed to figure out their gameplay, and we did. Substitution of Vašulín brought fresh energy, and our approach paid off,” the coach clarified.

After the initial disappointment of conceding early on, Pilsen’s head coach made two crucial substitutions at the start of the second half.
“We knew their strengths, and knew we had to be tactical,” reflected Šulc, after we clung onto the scoreline after playing the first half very aggressively.
“We needed a tactical switch,” said Šulc. “They were the ones who created and controlled. In the beginning. Fortunately, we managed to turn things around.”
