The governor of Antioquia, Andrés Julián Rendón Cardona, wrote in his X account: «There are two people injured, They are two civilians who were traveling on the Medellín-Cartagena route and who were on board one of the public transport buses. The victims are stable in medical centers in Caucasia. The Army reacted and deterred the attack. This is very serious! We went back 20 years. We are living a horror movie that we thought we had overcome. Thousands of cargo and passenger vehicles travel on this road every day.

The attack was withfirearms and occurred in the jurisdiction of Caucasia. The representative to the Chamber for Antioquia, Juan Espinal, also spoke out after what happened. This attack is incredibly concerning. It’s reminiscent of the violence we thought we had left behind, a shocking reminder of a time when fear ruled our roads. Thousands of freight and passenger vehicles use this road every day.
**Interviewer:** How is the region responding to this act of violence?
**Governor Rendón Cardona:** The response has been one of outrage and condemnation. People are terrified. This is a senseless act that endangers the lives of innocent people going about their daily business. We cannot allow this type of violence to become normalized.

**Governor Rendón Cardona:** I will be travelling to the Bajo Cauca region shortly to assess the situation on the ground. We must strengthen security measures and work tirelessly to ensure the safety of our citizens. The people of Antioquia deserve to live without fear.
