Bill Belichick to UNC? Legendary Coach Reportedly Meets with Tar Heels

Could Bill Belichick Be Headed to the College Ranks?

Legendary NFL coach Bill Belichick has reportedly met with the University of North Carolina about potentially becoming the Tar Heels’ next head coach.

According to multiple reports, the meeting went exceptionally well. “Belichick blew North Carolina away in the interview,” the Charlotte News & Observer added in a separate report.

A Surprise Move to College Football?

Belichick’s interest in the college football job is a bit of a surprise. While reports indicate he’d like to return to coaching in 2025, Belichick has never held an official coaching position in the college ranks.

A Family Affair: Connecting with The Tar Heels

Interestingly, Belichick has a personal connection to North Carolina. His father, Steve, served as the program’s running backs coach for a few seasons in the 1950s. Moreover, one of Belichick’s sons, Stephen, is the defensive coordinator for Washington, showcasing a continued family link to the sport.NCTraditionally a New England Patriots staple, it’s been widely presumed that Belichick would want to return to coaching in the NFL to break Don Shula’s win record. He currently trails the Hall of Fame coach by 14 wins for the record.
