The Collective of trade union organizations of the Ogooué mining company (COMILOG), which launched an indefinite strike on Wednesday to force the company’s administration to meet all of its demands, announced Thursday evening the suspension of the strike after a working session in Moanda (south-east) with the Minister of Labor, Manpower and Employment.
« We inform you that production activities will resume tomorrow Friday December 6, 2024 at station 1 on all COMILOG sites », Wrote the collective in a press release addressed to the staff of the company specializing in the extraction, processing and marketing of manganese.
At the end of the meeting, the two parties agreed to continue negotiations from Friday 06 to Tuesday 10 December 2024 under the aegis of the Ministry of Labor.
« On Tuesday, December 10, 2024, after the concluding meeting with the Minister of Labor, we will hold general assembly meetings », Warned the collective in the press release signed by 5 of the company’s 6 unions.
« The opening of negotiations necessarily suspends the workers’ strike if it is called », recalls the collective referring to the legal provisions.
The collective congratulates the staff “ for your mobilization which made it possible to reach the member of the government so that our demands were finally taken into account and processed diligently ».
The company’s management did not communicate after the meeting with the minister.
Unions claim several social and professional benefits. Management maintains that it is open to discussion and negotiations.

**Alex Reed:** Certainly. Early this week, six trade union organizations at COMILOG launched an indefinite strike, demanding that the company address a number of grievances. However, on Thursday evening, the Collective of trade union organizations released a statement announcing the suspension of the strike. This followed a meeting between union leaders and the Minister of Labor, Manpower and Employment in Moanda.
