Moove Partners With Waymo to Transform U.S. Cities with Self-Driving Vehicles
Moove, a global leader in innovative mobility solutions, announced a groundbreaking partnership with Waymo, the leading autonomous driving technology company. This collaboration will transform urban mobility in the U.S., starting with operations in Phoenix, set to launch in 2025. The service will later expand to Miami in 2026.
Under the agreement, Moove will manage and dispatch Waymo’s fully autonomous fleet of all-electric vehicles, leveraging its expertise in fleet management and lending platform to accelerate the deployment and efficiency of Waymo’s driverless technology. Waymo will remain responsible for the validation and continuous development of its advanced Waymo Driver technology.
“We are excited to partner with Moove in Phoenix and later in Miami, combining their experience in mobility-focused fleet management with our growing Waymo One service. Together we will provide passengers with safe, seamless journeys and scale faster and more cost-effectively over time, while keeping safety at the forefront,” said Ryan McNamara, Vice President of Operations at Waymo.
This strategic partnership allows Moove to build on its mission of making mobility accessible and affordable for all. While expanding into the autonomous vehicle space, Moove remains dedicated to its existing customers in emerging markets through the innovative Drive-to-Own (DTO) program. DTO democratizes access to vehicle ownership by providing underserved mobility entrepreneurs with a revenue-based financing model that empowers them to achieve business success.
Moove’s global impact so far has been impressive, having raised over $500 million and expanding to 12 markets across four continents in just a few years. This funding has, in part, been used to secure over 50 million rides on Moove-funded vehicles.
The partnership marks a significant step in the evolution of urban mobility, addressing crucial issues of accessibility, safety, and efficiency. According to the World Health Organization, traffic accidents claim almost 1.2 million lives annually, making them a leading cause of death worldwide. Automated driving technology holds immense potential to
reduce road fatalities and congestion, ultimately creating smarter, safer cities.
“Travel arranging has fundamentally changed urban mobility over the past 15 years, but the core business has remained largely unchanged. Waymo’s safe, reliable, and convenient Waymo One service is at the forefront of autonomous technology, and together, we are driving meaningful change in urban mobility,” Ladi Delano, co-founder and co-CEO of Moove, said. “We are proud to partner with Waymo and bring our operational expertise to enable this transformation.”
“We know that there is no one-size-fits-all approach to mobility. As we expand into the thoughtful deployment of autonomous vehicles in the U.S.
We remain committed to our customers around the world, where we will continue to offer our unique financing solutions to underserved mobility entrepreneurs,” Delano added.
The movement to make transportation safer and more accessible through innovative solutions like autonomous vehicles is gaining momentum, and this partnership serves as a powerful example of the exciting future of mobility.
What are the reasons behind choosing Phoenix and Miami as the initial launch cities for this service?
## Moove and Waymo Team Up: Interview with Alex Reed, Mobility Expert
**Interviewer:** Today, we’re here to discuss the exciting news of Moove partnering with Waymo to bring self-driving vehicles to U.S. cities. Joining me is Alex Reed, a leading expert in the mobility sector. Welcome to the show!
**Alex Reed:** Thank you for having me.
**Interviewer:** So, Moove seems to be making big waves in the mobility space. Can you tell us about this new partnership with Waymo and what it means for the future of transportation?
**Alex Reed:** This is a significant development, indeed. Moove, with its expertise in fleet management and lending platforms, will be responsible for managing and dispatching Waymo’s autonomous fleet of electric vehicles.
This partnership is a win-win. Waymo gets a trusted partner to handle the logistical complexities of operating a large-scale robotaxi service, allowing them to focus on what they do best: developing and refining their autonomous driving technology. Meanwhile, Moove expands into the autonomous vehicle market, leveraging their experience to make this technology accessible and efficient.
**Interviewer:** You mentioned the service will begin in Phoenix in 2025 and then expand to Miami in 2026. Why these cities?
**Alex Reed:** Both Phoenix and Miami are ideal testing grounds for autonomous vehicle technology.
Phoenix has a well-established infrastructure, favorable weather conditions, and a forward-thinking approach to innovation, making it a perfect environment for implementing and testing self-driving cars.
Miami, with its dense urban landscape and large tourist population, presents a more complex challenge, showcasing Waymo and Moove’s ambition to tackle diverse urban environments. [[1](https://apnews.com/article/waymo-robotaxi-miami-expansion-cruise-tesla-39e9691f5f42b6d5ffeeed6755a053e7)]
**Interviewer:** This partnership sounds promising. What are some of the potential benefits for consumers?
