Dragons Excluded: ELF Unveils 16-Team Lineup for 2025 Season

European League of Football Unveils 2025 Lineup: New Teams, a Comeback, and a Farewell

The European League of Football (ELF) is gearing up for a thrilling 2025 season, promising a captivating blend of established powerhouses and exciting newcomers. With sixteen teams representing nine nations, the league is showcasing the growing popularity and competitive spirit of American football across the continent. Denmark welcomes its own ELF franchise, the Nordic Storm, while the Milano Seamen will be taking a brief hiatus in 2025, returning with a fresh ownership group in 2026. Unfortunately, the Barcelona Dragons will be absent from the upcoming season.

Highlighting the league’s growth and ambition, ELF Managing Director Zeljko Karajica emphasizes that the ultimate goal remains 24 teams. “Our focus is not solely on expanding the league but also on ensuring the qualitative development of all participating teams,” says Karajica.

ELF Commissioner Patrick Esume views the Dragons’ departure as a natural phase in a young league’s evolution.

“Only two founding members still play in the NFL, both under different names,” Esume points out. “Countless teams have disappeared over time, while others have emerged. Achieving stability in the field of participants is an unavoidable process that we embarked upon from the very beginning.”

Esume emphasizes that work is already underway to facilitate the Seamen’s triumphant return in 2026. “They are undergoing a restructuring with a new ownership group and are committed to entering the league stronger and more competitive,” he explains.

The 2025 season kicks off in May, featuring a robust German contingent with seven teams: Rhein Fire, Berlin Thunder, Hamburg Sea Devils, Munich Ravens, Frankfurt Galaxy, Cologne Centurions, and Stuttgart Surge.

Austria will be represented by the Vienna Vikings and Raiders Tirol, while Spain fields the Madrid Bravos. The Panthers Wroclaw wave the flag for Poland, the Prague Lions for the Czech Republic, the Fehérvár Enthroners for Hungary, the Helvetic Mercenaries for Switzerland, the Paris Musketeers for France, and Devastation Team Nordic Storm for Denmark.

A League in Motion

The ELF’s upcoming season promises to be a dynamic affair, showcasing the explosive growth and passion for American football throughout Europe.

With its commitment to fostering a competitive environment and a dedicated fan base eager for thrilling gridiron action, the ELF is set to continue its exciting journey toward becoming a premier destination for American football fans worldwide.
