Tragedy Strikes Pleasantville: Woman Found Dead After Suspicious Fall
In a somber incident that has shaken the community of Pleasantville, a young woman tragically lost her life early Monday morning. Authorities responded to a frantic 911 call around 2 a.m. from a residence on the 100 block of Edgewater Avenue, where they discovered a scene of chaos and potential foul play.
A Gruesome Discovery
Upon arrival, officers found 25-year-old Leslianet Quintana-Betancourt with severe injuries to her arms, face, and abdomen. Her live-in boyfriend, 26-year-old Boris Lainez-Rosales, claimed she had accidentally fallen down the 12 stairs leading to the basement.
However, the initial inspection of the scene raised immediate suspicions. The basement was in disarray, splattered with blood stains. The air hung heavy with the pungent smell of bleach.
Lainez-Rosales himself bore visible signs of a struggle: cuts on his hands and an overpowering odor of bleach clung to his clothes. He appeared to be intoxicated or under the influence of drugs.
Evidence Mounts
Further investigation uncovered more disturbing evidence. A bag potentially stained with blood was found inside Lainez-Rosales’ car. In the backyard, a trash bag filled with duct tape, possibly containing hair, added to the macabre collection. A bloodstained baseball bat lay discarded in the yard, a chilling testament to the violence that had unfolded.
Witness Testimony
A neighbor who lived upstairs reported hearing the couple arguing earlier that night. Concerned, the neighbor went downstairs to check on them. Lainez-Rosales assured the neighbor that everything was fine and insisted on accompanying them back upstairs. Shortly after, Lainez-Rosales used the neighbor’s cell phone to dial 911.
Fatal Outcome
Tragically, Leslianet Quintana-Betancourt was pronounced dead at an area hospital a short time later. Authorities quickly suspected foul play and arrested Lainez-Rosales.
He is currently charged with murder and tampering with physical evidence. The prosecutor’s office hasn’t yet released information about legal representation for Lainez-Rosales.
