Oprah Launches New Podcast and Book Club, Fueling Conversation with Starbucks

Oprah Winfrey is back in the business of bringing books to wider audiences. In a new venture, she launched “The Oprah Podcast,” a weekly dose of conversations that delve deep into literature and feature captivating guests.

The podcast, available on Winfrey’s YouTube channel, offers more than just book discussions. Winfrey will chat with cultural influencers, global newsmakers, and everyday people whose stories touch on inspiration, reflection, and growth.

The podcast kicked off with a conversation featuring Claire Keegan, author of “Small Things Like These“. This award-winning historical novel is Winfrey’s latest book club selection and has already garnered significant attention. The novel was adapted into a film starring Cillian Murphy, released earlier this year.

“To know that Oprah Winfrey took pleasure in reading my book is the most exquisite compliment, which will last my lifetime,” Keegan said in a statement. “To be told that she has also recommended it for others to read and has chosen this novel for her book club is a tremendous honor. May her wonderful book club encourage people into reading for years and years to come.”

A Partnership with Starbucks

The podcast is being presented in partnership with Starbucks, creating a thematic synergy with coffee, conversation, and the written word. Conversations are scheduled to be filmed at Starbucks locations, starting with a launch at the iconic Empire State Building Starbucks.

“Connecting with people about what matters to us in this moment, so we can all continue to reach our highest, truest potential is what I’m most interested in offering at this time in my life,” Winfrey said. “As one of my greatest pride and joys this past 30 years has been introducing books to new audiences, I am delighted to partner with Starbucks as we craft this new podcast. It is the perfect opportunity to bring together readers around things we both love: books, coffee and conversation.”

This isn’t the first time Winfrey and Starbucks have joined forces. In the 1990s, they collaborated on a project designed to raise funds for literacy. They later partnered again in 2014 to create the Teavana Oprah Chai Tea, a venture that benefitting youth education organizations by raising millions.
