Renewal of Sporting Venues by Burgos City Council Underway
The Burgos City Council announced a series of rehabilitation projects aimed at improving various sporting venues in the city. Councilor for Sports, César Barriada, announced the plans, emphasizing the council’s commitment to improving athletic infrastructure.
Rio Vena Tennis Court Revival
New life will soon be breathed into the Rio Vena tennis courts and its locker rooms, which are currently in a state of disrepair. Barriada explained that the project, which was originally slated to begin in 2021, faced delays due to the bankruptcy of one of the companies involved. Undeterred, the council is forging ahead with a renewed design that incorporates the refurbishment of the changing rooms.
Addressing Vandalism
The councilor revealed an additional step being taken to address recent damage to the tennis courts. Vandals targeted the facility last Friday, breaking glass and damaging lockers, though thankfully no thefts were reported. A complaint concerning the incident was filed by the Municipal Sports Service.
Focusing on Other Venues
Beyond the tennis courts, several other projects are in the pipeline.
The renovation project at the決め Carlos Sernaivesports center is progressing, with tender publication expected throughout 2025.
The San Amaro pool will also be seeing improvements, focusing specifically on the pool’s exterior. While the pool itself is structurally sound, its wear and tear is a testament to lack of recent updates.
