Fifteen years of marriage felt complete, until the unimaginable happened – Ace and Shannon Page spontaneously became parents of three. After a five-year journey struggling to have children, the couple faced a happy, yet overwhelming, reality: they were welcoming not one, but three identical baby boys.
A Long Road to Parenthood
Shannon and Ace, from Wincanton, Somerset, had been trying to conceive for five years. When Shannon initially stopped taking birth control pills seven years ago, the couple felt no pressure to immediately start a family. Slowly time passed, and they had not yet experienced the joy of a positive pregnancy test.
They decided to seek medical intervention, starting with hormone treatments for six months. When these attempts didn’t work, IVF became their next step. Though hopeful, they knew they weren’t guaranteed success.
The first embryo transfer at the end of March brought joy and hope. After weeks of agonizing anticipation, she saw that her dreams had finally come true.

A Shaky Start
“I was in shock,” Shannon recalls. While overjoyed, an undercurrent of worry ran beneath her excitement.

“We were advised by multiple people to terminate one or two of the triplets to increase the chances of survival. But we decided to proceed with all three babies against the advice given.
The couple moved 70 miles from home to Bristol to be close to the hospital. It was ‘touch and go’, by week 23.

## From Zero to Three: A Couple’s IVF Miracle
**Interviewer:** Welcome to the show, Shannon. Congratulations on the arrival of your three beautiful boys!
**Shannon:** Thank you! It’s been a whirlwind, to say the least!
**Interviewer:** You and Ace waited five years to become parents. Can you tell us a little about your journey?
**Shannon:** Well, we stopped using birth control about seven years ago but weren’t necessarily rushing into parenthood right away. But as time went by, it became clear that it wasn’t happening naturally. So, we started with hormone treatments, which unfortunately weren’t successful.
**Interviewer:** And then you decided to try IVF?
**Shannon:** Yes. We knew it was a big step, but we were hopeful. It felt like a beacon of hope after months of disappointment.
**Interviewer:** That’s wonderful. And you got pregnant on the first attempt?
**Shannon:** [Laughs] Not quite! The first embryo transfer was successful, and seeing that positive test was an incredible feeling after years of negative ones.

**Shannon:** There sure was!

**Shannon:** We were overjoyed, of course. Then at the first ultrasound, the doctor said, “Congratulations, you’re having triplets!” We were completely stunned. Triplets! We went from no kids to three overnight. It was overwhelming, exciting, and a little terrifying all at once.
**Interviewer:** Can you were you surprised by the multiples?
**Shannon:** Absolutely! We understood the risks associated with IVF and that multiples are possible, but triplets were a huge surprise.
