McLaren’s hopes took another hit when Lando Norris received a ten-second stop-and-go penalty for failing to slow under yellow flags later in the race.

The second half of the race took a dramatic turn with punctures affecting Lewis Hamilton and Sainz, leading to yet another safety car. It was a costly pit stop for Piastri, who lost his position to Leclerc.
The chaos left Verstappen in the lead, with Norris in second, Leclerc third and Piastri settling into fourth. Sainz, having returned to the race following a foray into the pits, found himself further down the order in seventh.
The resumed race was a tense affair, featuring battles among the leaders and more unfortunate moments for other drivers, including Sergio Pérez reporting a loss of power resuming after the third safety car deployment.
Norris’ penalty due to the yellow flags completely changed the picture.
Immediately after receiving the penalty, Norris was dropped out of points-scoring position – a major setback for both him and McLaren.
However, Norris recovered to secure valuable points and he snatched the fastest lap of the race, a consolation prize given the earlier misfortune for the McLaren driver.
Meanwhile, Hamilton received a drive-through penalty for speeding in the pit lane.
Amid the chaos, other teams seized opportunities for points, with Pierre Gasly finishing fifth, boosting Alpines’ bid for P6 in the constructors’ championship. Kevin Magnussen rounded out the top ten while Zhou Guanyu added valuable points for Sauber.
