André van Duin Defends Matthijs van Nieuwkerk’s Return to TV

APIs: Should Comedian’s Voice Returnonaire?

Veteran Comedian Defends Former Talk-Show Host

Legendary comedian André van Duin has spoken out against the decision to prevent Matthijs van Nieuwkerk from returning to television.

“It’s completely ridiculous that Matthijs can no longer be seen on TV,” the 77-year-old television personality stated. Van Duin’s comment comes after news broke that Mattjis’s planned return to RTL was scrapped following the publication of a report outlining misconduct allegations related to his former talk show.

Van Duin, who was a frequent guest on van Nieuwkerk’s program “De Wereld Draait Door,” shared his observations about the pressure van Nieuwkerk faced.

“Something must have gone wrong, of course I wasn’t there, but even in a company where they make cardboard boxes, they sometimes get out of line in a meeting,” Van Duin offered. He recalled similar experiences himself, adding, “That also happened in Aalsmeer with Joop van den Ende, but always to make the product better. You all do that together and sometimes harsh words are said. But when the dust has settled afterwards, you drink a cup of coffee again with each other.”

“Nowadays you can hardly say anything without an action group standing at your door,” André says, concluding that these situations are “even more heated these days”.”
