Nevada Libraries Offer Free Legal Help with Expanding Kiosk Network
Access to justice just got a little easier in Nevada. Thanks to a growing network of interactive kiosks, Nevada residents now have a convenient way to find vital legal information and assistance within their local libraries.
Empowering Communities with Legal Knowledge
The Nevada Legal Kiosk Project, launched in the summer of 2023, has been steadily expanding its reach. Beginning with 22 kiosks, the project recently added six more locations across the state, bringing the total number of kiosks to 28. These kiosks, strategically placed in libraries throughout Nevada, are accessible to the public free of charge during regular library hours.
“We are committed to bridging the justice gap and ensuring that all Nevadans have access to the legal resources they need,”
A Digital Gateway to Legal Resources
The kiosks serve as a user-friendly portal, providing a wealth of information and resources to help individuals navigate the often-complex legal system. Users can access a curated library of free legal forms, search for specific information on various legal topics, locate local legal aid organizations, and even connect with attorneys or other legal professionals virtually.
Topics Covered: From Housing to Veterans’ Benefits
The kiosks offer a comprehensive range of topics, addressing some of the most pressing legal issues faced by Nevadans. This includes information on housing issues, divorce and custody matters, protection orders, guardianship, health care and financial powers of attorney, debt collection, Social Security benefits, and resources for veterans.
Accessibility and Multilingual Access
Recognizing the diverse needs of the community, the Nevada Legal Kiosk Project has made accessibility a top priority.
All kiosks are equipped with printers and scanners, allowing users to print necessary documents and make copies. Furthermore, the kiosks offer support in both English and Spanish, ensuring that language barriers do not prevent individuals from accessing vital legal information.
Key Locations in the Valley
For residents of the Las Vegas Valley, the Nevada Legal Kiosk Project offers convenient access at seven local library branches:
- Alexander Library
- Aliante Library
- East Las Vegas Library
- North Las Vegas Library
- Sahara West Library
- West Charleston Library
- Whitney Library
