NYC Brace for a Week of Chilly, Dry Days as Winter Looms

As November draws to a close and December begins, New York City is set for a persistent chill.

A Cold Front Settles In

According to Dave Dombek, senior meteorologist at AccuWeather: “it’s not record-breaking or anything unusually out of the ordinary for this time of year. However, it’s not just a brief cold spell that lasts one or two days and then gets milder. Instead, it’s a fairly persistent cold pattern that will stick around for a while.”

Residents should anticipate temperatures averaging 7 to 10 degrees below seasonal norms for the upcoming week.

Sunshine Breaks Through the Chill

Despite the cold, it is expected to be mostly a dry pattern.

Westerly winds flowing down the Appalachian Mountains will keep precipitation minimal through midweek. From Friday through Wednesday, New York City residents can look forward to a mix of mostly sunny to partly sunny skies.

For the remainder of Friday, there’s a slight chance of a brief sprinkle or flurry later in the afternoon or evening, but nothing significant is anticipated.

A Touch of Snow, But Little Impact

Dry conditions will persist through Wednesday, with a possibility of snow showers or a light dusting of snow. However, Dombek clarified: “it’s unlikely to have any significant impact”.

Winter’s Approach

This week’s persistent chill serves as a reminder that winter is just around the corner. While there won’t be any dramatic storms or disruptive weather, the brisk air is sure to make coats, scarves, and gloves essential accessories for New Yorkers.

How long will the cold ‍weather last in New York City?

**Dave Dombek:** Thanks ‌for having ‍me!

**Host:** So, the word on the street ‌is that we’re in for a chillier-than-usual stretch. Can you tell us more about what New Yorkers can ‌expect in the coming week?

**Dave Dombek:** ⁤Absolutely. As we move⁣ into December, we’ll definitely see a‍ drop in ⁢temperatures. It’s not going to be record-breaking cold, but ⁢it’s going⁢ to be consistently chilly – think highs in ‍the 40s‌ – for‍ at least a week starting the end of November. **Host:** That’s definitely‍ a departure from the mild fall weather we’ve been enjoying ⁤lately. Anything unusual ⁢about this cold front?

**Dave Dombek:** Not‌ necessarily. It’s typical for this time of‌ year to see a dip in temperatures, but this one seems to be hanging around for a‌ bit longer than usual. It’s not just a quick blast of ‍cold; it’s more of a settling in for the winter⁣ season.

**Host:** And‌ what about precipitation? Can⁢ we ‍expect snow, or will it stay dry?

**Dave Dombek:** It⁤ looks⁢ like it will stay pretty dry for the most part.

**Host:** Well, that’s good‍ news for ‌those‍ of us who haven’t⁢ quite mastered navigating icy sidewalks just yet. Dave, thanks for the heads-up. And to our viewers,⁤ bundle up and stay warm!
