Thousands Pass Nursing Licenses Exams, Filipina Nurse Receives Global Award
Nearly 29,000 nursing hopefuls celebrated this week as they passed the Nursing Licensure Examinations (NLE) administered by the Professional Regulation Commission’s (PRC) Board of Nursing. A remarkable 84.99 percent of the 34,534 examinees who took the grueling exams on November 9 and 10 achieved success.
Top Performers Shine
Leading the pack were Chariemae Nuñez Cañazares of Cebu Normal University (CNU), who earned a score of 92.60 percent, and Arianne Marie Baltero Estrella of the University of the Philippines-Manila, who secured a 92.20 percent score. Close behind them were Alexandra Dalura Yamson of Xavier University with 92 percent, Kyle Andrea Divino Bencalo of the Chinese General Hospital Colleges, and Marc Emmanuel Arepal Estillore, another CNU graduate, both earning 91.80 percent.
The top 10 positions were closely contested, with multiple examinees tying for 6th through 10th place.
Recognizing Excellence
In another exciting display of nursing excellence, retired Filipina nurse Colonel Maria Victoria Juan brought honor to the Philippines by winning the prestigious Aster Guardians Global Nursing Award for 2024. Juan, who previously served as a consultant in the Philippine Army, outshone 78,000 nurses from 203 countries to claim the coveted title.
The award ceremony, held in Bengaluru, India on Thursday, celebrated Juan’s exceptional contributions to nursing, particularly her work in disaster response and public service.
