Stiller Takes the Reins as IFK Göteborg Searches for New Sporting Director
IFK Göteborg has announced that Hannes Stiller will be the club’s acting sporting manager effective immediately. Stiller, who has served as team manager since 2022, will assume responsibility for scouting and transfer work as Ola Larsson departs the position of technical director at the turn of the year.
A Seamless Transition
Stiller expressed confidence in his ability to seamlessly transition into this expanded role. “It feels safe to have worked closely with these issues for several years,” he said. “I also have a background as a club manager in another association, so all these questions are very familiar to me.”
“Currently, we are in a good position with our playing squad.”
Stiller emphasized the team’s current strength and the club’s well-defined transfer strategy. “We have a good team with clear plans for our transfer work,” he explained. “It is easy to take over the already started negotiations and scouting processes. We have around 20 players with A-team contracts right now and are in the final phase of all talks with the players who have expiring contracts. It is a very good foundation to stand on and develop from.”
Continued Progress
The club is actively seeking a permanent replacement for the sporting director position, and Stiller will lead the department in the interim. He stressed the importance of a measured and thoughtful approach.
“It is important that we are meticulous in what we do and that we work calmly,” he stated. He reassured fans that the club’s focus remains on continuous improvement. “In the meantime, we continue to work on our plans.”
The squad will soon take a well-deserved break before resuming training at the beginning of January. During this period, Stiller and his team will continue to develop strategies for the upcoming season, ensuring that IFK Göteborg is poised for success.
