Louisville Rallies Past West Virginia in Overtime Thriller
Chucky Hepburns’ career-high 32 points fueled the Louisville Cardinals to a meliot
It was West Virginia’s second straight overtime game after upsetting third-ranked Gonzaga the day before.
“I thought Louisville did a nice job, made some plays, got to the foul line and there were certainly plenty of opportunities we could have capitalized on to come out on top,” West Virginia coach Darian DeVries said.
Down by 11 in the first half, Louisville pulled even with 8:06 remaining on Hepburn‘s three-pointer. It was part of a 9-0 run that gave Louisville a four-point lead, 54-50.
West Virginia, however, battled back.
With 3:59 left, Okani sank a jumper to pull within three. Amani Hansberry added two free throws before Small hit a jumper and close one that gave WVU a 60-59 lead.
The lead went back to Louisville on a jumper by Terrence Edwards Jr. before Small answered for West Virginia 16 seconds later.
Hepburn converted a free throw with 31 seconds left to tie the game at 62.
But West Virginia missed a game-winner before the shot clock expired, sending the game to overtime. Louisville took over in the extra session, with a

capped off his incredible performance, finishing with 32 points.
He converted a layup and free throw to put Louisville ahead 70-67-to Hepburn.
