Huawei Returns to Indonesia with Flagship Pura 70 Ultra

The timing of the release has sparked speculation that Huawei aims to compete directly with the anticipated iPhone 16, which is rumored to launch in the same month. However, Huawei Indonesia was quick to dismiss any intention of leveraging a competitor’s launch.

“We don’t take advantage of any opportunities, especially from competitors. But because of our strategy and plans, the momentum is that at the end of this year, the smartphone series will enter again,” said Edy Supartono, Training Director of Huawei Device Indonesia in Jakarta.

Meeting Demand, Assembling Responsibly

Huawei’s return to the Indonesian market is largely driven by the persistent demand from its loyal customer base. Many Indonesian consumers had eagerly awaited the return of Huawei smartphones, according to Supartono.

“The reason we are releasing a smartphone again is because there is high demand from Huawei consumers in Indonesia. Why now? Because of the momentum now,” said Edy.

The choice of the Pura 70 Ultra as its flagship entrant in the Indonesian market is not arbitrary. This phone boasts Huawei’s latest technology and is considered one of the most powerful devices it will release globally in 2024, according to Supartono.

“Pura 70 Ultra is the latest series that Huawei has released,” said Edy.

In a move that underscores its commitment to supporting local manufacturing, Huawei revealed that the Pura 70 Ultra is assembled in Batam to comply with Indonesia’s TKDN (Domestic Content Level). This further indicates Huawei’s long-term commitment to the Indonesian market.

“God willing,” announced Edy.
