Còrdoba Braces for Extended Spell of Heat and Heavy Rain
Córdoba residents can expect a combination of high temperatures and steady rainfall to linger for at least another week. According to the latest agroclimatic outlook, the northern and northeastern regions of the province face the most intense heat, with maximum temperatures climbing to 35°C between Thursday and Wednesday, December 4.
Elsewhere in Córdoba, temperatures are forecast to reach a still notable 30°C.
Experts attribute the projected heatwave to “winds blowing from the tropics,” which, they say, will usher in “maximum temperatures well above normal in the northern part of the agricultural area and within the normal range, but with some intense temperatures, in the central part of the country during the first few days, and the south.”
Despite the soaring daytime highs, nighttime will offer a respite from the heat, with minimum temperatures expected to hover between 10°C and 15°C. This significant temperature
difference between day and night will create “marked thermal amplitude” across the region.
Adding to the meteorological mix is the outlook for continued rainfall. The eastern zone of Córdoba can anticipate roughly 10 mm of rain, while the central region is expected to receive around 25 mm. The western part of the province, however, could see significantly heavier downpours, with up to 75 mm of rain possible.
The forecast also predicts a shift in weather patterns as “polar air masses will advance along the front, causing below-normal minimum temperatures in most agricultural areas except the northern tip.”
While the extended period of heat and rain may bring some discomfort, the vital agricultural industry will likely benefit from the abundant moisture.

## Córdoba Braces for Stormy Week: Interview with Meteorologist Teresa Hernandez
**Interviewer:** Welcome back to the show, Teresa. We’re hearing reports of some pretty intense weather headed towards Córdoba. Can you tell us what to expect?
**Teresa Hernandez:** You’re right, we’re looking at a rather dramatic shift in weather patterns headed Córdoba’s way. According to the latest forecasts, [1](https://www.bbc.com/weather/6299327) Córdoba Airport is expecting above-average temperatures throughout the week, reaching potentially dangerous levels. On top of that, we’re expecting heavy rainfall, with the possibility of localized flooding.
**Interviewer:** That sounds pretty concerning. What kind of precautions should residents be taking?
**Teresa Hernandez:** I would urge everyone to stay hydrated and seek out cool, shaded areas during the day. The heat combined with the humidity can be a dangerous mix. It’s also crucial to pay attention to local weather alerts and be prepared for potential power outages or flash flooding.
**Interviewer:** Any advice for those venturing out in these conditions Teresa?
**Teresa Hernandez:** Absolutely. If you must go out, dress in loose-fitting, light-coloured clothing and drink plenty of water. Avoid strenuous activity during the hottest parts of the day. And remember, “Turn around, don’t drown” – if you encounter flooded roads, find an alternate route. Stay safe, Córdoba!
