Maurienne Boulists Rack Up Wins Across the Region
The Pré-Coppet room buzzed with activity as representatives from bowling associations across the Maurienne region gathered for their annual general assembly. Laurence Diernaz and members of the Maurienne Sports and Handicap Association, the organizers of this important event, warmly welcomed the attendees.
Maurienne boulists have been making a name for themselves on the regional scene, racking up impressive results in a variety of competitions. In the quadrettes category in the Monts du Lyonnais, Gaëtan Mancuso’s team from Saint-Michel shone brightly in the M1 division.
Jacques Gros, hailing from Aiguebelle, led his team to success in the M3 division, while Enzo Ré and hisModane squad claimed victory in the M4 division.
The Maurienne region also saw success in mixed doubles, with Thérèse Slivinski from Saint-Rémy representing the area with pride in Cabestany.
Adding to their string of victories, nine ASHM licensees brought home wins for Maurienne in Montfaucon-en-Velay.
A Need for More Referees
While the Maurienne region boasts a strong contingent of talented boules players, the area is facing a shortage of referees. Yves Goux, from Saint-Jean, and Roger Trédez, from Saint-Rémy, are currently the only two referees in the region.
A heartfelt plea was made during the assembly for members of the community to step forward and become certified referees. As one attendee noted, “Without referees, these competitions simply cannot take place.”
The need for enthusiastic individuals willing to take on this vital role was emphasized as essential to the continued growth and success of boules in the Maurienne region.
This year, Saint-Michel achieved a coveted spot in the departmental ranking, a testament to their hard work and dedication.
However, a word of caution was issued: maintaining this position will require continued effort and commitment from all members of the Maurienne boules community.
