A Look at Autumn: Some Flachgau Clubs Soared, Others Struggled
Mid-way through the state championship season, it’s a good time to take stock of how teams are performing and which players stood out. Looking at the Flachgau clubs, there’s been a mix of success, with some vying for the top spot, others surprising with their resilience, and some facing relegation battles.
The Frontrunners Shining: Steady Climbs and Unexpected Success Fabricated by Homegrown Talent
Seekirchen takes the top spot on the Salzburg League table with a remarkable undefeated streak spanning 15 rounds. With 68 goals scored and only 10 conceded, the well-oiled machine, built over years, looks set for a triumphant return to the Western League, potentially dragging their 1b side into the upper echelons.
Not to be outdone, Koppl impresses as a dominant force both offensively and defensively, only dropping two points at home. Their emphasis on nurturing their own talent proves successful, fueled by a seasoned core and the wisdom of ex-professional Lukas Schubert, who embodies the club’s philosophy.
Henndorf boasts strong team structure and consistency, making them a formidable force. During the first 14 games of the season, only smooth sailing awaited them. While Perwang/Michaelbeuern gracefully transitioned back to the 1st Class North following relegation. Their experience and unity under pressure make them a force to be reckoned with.
Unexpectedly kicking off the autumn on top of the 1st Class North was Nußdorf. Homegrown talent flourished, propelling the former relegated team to victory after victory. Only conceding nine goals, they boast a comfortable lead in the promotion race.
Mid-Table Tightrope Walkers: Staying in Their Lane for Progress
Even without a title contention, certain teams have enjoyed a successful Autumn. Anthering’s
focus on local talent and coaching has brought them to fourth place in the 1st Regional League just behind the promotional spots. Newcomer Elixhausen also echoed this success, showcasing the benefits of nurturing local talent.
Despite most likely not clinching the title, Strobl navigated a surprisingly successful autumn in the 2nd Regional League North, remaining undefeated at home. They continue fighting for promotion. Many in the Flachgau followed suit, with
Siezenheim’s fifth-place finish in the Salzburg League and second spot in the 2nd Class North B signifying a strong season thus far. Oberndorf’s resurgence after their drop to 2nd Class zone A proves they remain a strong contender.
Facing Challenges: Teams Battling to Escape the Bottom
Relegation looms for some. Following a tough
autumn, Grünau struggles both on and off the field, flailing in 15th place and desperately seeking their first win. Five other Flachgau clubs face a similar fight for survival in 1st Class, with St. Georgen struggling offensively scoring only nine goals on their
journey.
Even as the first half unfolds, disappointment lingers as high hopes fail to materialize for Obertrum, perched in 4th place, they remain within shot of achieving promotion despite some disappointing performances.
Berndorf, Plainfeld, Abersee, and Faistenau will all be hoping for strong runs in the spring.
More Than Just Goals: Striking Performances and Highlighted Individual Achievements
While team strength carries much weight, standout individual performances capture attention. Fabian Neumayr emerges as a frontrunner in the Salzburg League.
His 16 goals prove his
2nd
Bundesliga journey was no fluke.
Alongside him, HSV Wals and its incredible scorer Elvis Ozegovic impressed with 14 goals.
Fantastical striker Mathias Chudoba led the scoring 1b team with 19 goals this season, while
Paul Stockreiter
scored a remarkable 20 goals for Siezenheim’s second team. Noteworthy too are the defensive stalwarts.
Severin Heuberger stood out, achieving an impressive clean sheet for 444 minutes.
Other defenders showcasing
result Stores, Siezenheim’s backup goalie Alexander Gloger and HSV captain Wolfgang Krainer with 302 minutes without conceding.
Finally, with eight yellow cards and one yellow-red card, Eugendorf
wing player
Philip Teufl exemplifies a feisty style, while Strobl’s Matthias Eisl designates himself closely behind with seven
warnings and one expulsion.
The Flachgau’s football scene has witnessed stellar performances. While some have conquered and others have faltered. The spring promises much with battles for promotion and against relegation.
