Norwell High School senior Eddy Archbold recently marked a significant milestone in his tennis journey, signing with Huntington University to further his athletic career while pursuing a business management degree.

Archbold’s commitment to the sport is evident in his years of dedication. For the past two seasons, he excelled on the varsity tennis team, earning all-conference honorable mention accolades in the Northeast 8 Conference. His achievements culminated in a sectional championship title in 2023.

“It means a lot,” Archbold said, reflecting on his accomplishment. “I’ve been playing since I was nine years old. I’ve just been developing my game for a long time, and I was really excited to extend that and play for as long as I can.”

Huntingdon University, a faith-based institution, is a natural fit for Archbold’s values and aspirations.

“I won’t be traveling too far, but I am excited to join the faith-based institution and small community,” Archbold shared. “On my visit, it felt like home, and that I could get connected.”

Archbold will be joining a successful Foresters tennis program in the Crossroads League. The team ended their fall season with an impressive 9-2 record, with hopes to continue their winning streak in the spring. Led by fifth-year head coach Ignacio Poncio, the Foresters have enjoyed five consecutive winning seasons. Huntington assistant coach Franco Minoldo Garcia was present to celebrate Archbold’s commitment to the team.

Beyond his athletic pursuits, Archbold is eager to pursue his academic goals at Huntington University.

“I plan on studying business management there,” Archbold explained. “I would like to potentially extend my tennis passion even further.” He envisions a future where his love for the sport could translate into a business venture.

“Maybe,” Archbold mused, “I want to work with tennis in the future – not just in college, but make a business out of it. ”
