NATO’s Praise for Greece Means Insecurity and Deprivation, Says KKE

“At a time when the imperialist war in Ukraine has moved into a new, more dangerous phase, with European countries even conducting military preparedness exercises, Mr. Mitsotakis declares his loyalty to the NATO war invitation and is proud that the country spends more than 3% of the GDP, money of the Greek people, for the war needs of NATO. The government’s lie is proven once again, that allegedly these expenses, which the government “steals” from the people’s income, health, education and other critical needs of the people, concern the defense of the country”, says the KKE, in a statement of, for the meeting and the statements of Mr. Mitsotaki-M. Rute.

“The NATO Secretary General’s praise of the government for supporting the Zelensky regime, for its excessive military spending and its role in the stability of the South-Eastern wing of the Alliance, in the midst of two wars, for the people and the country means insecurity, deprivation and great risks”, points out the KKE and concludes:

“The slogan for the country’s disengagement from the imperialist wars, in which the government participates with the support of other parties, must be heard even louder, the struggle of the people and the youth throughout Greece must be multiplied.”

They argue this diverts resources from essential public ⁢services like healthcare and education. ⁤ Given the ongoing conflict in ‍Ukraine ⁤and‍ increased military⁤ exercises across Europe, ‍do you‍ think the average Greek citizen prioritizes national defense over⁢ these other social programs?
