Construction on the new Sleep Lab at Geisinger-Lewistown Hospital began in October and will continue throughout 2025, marking a significant upgrade for the local healthcare facility.

LEWISTOWN — Geisinger-Lewistown Hospital has recently initiated extensive renovations to its sleep lab, with a projected investment of $5.1 million aimed at enhancing patient care in the small-town healthcare setting.

“Geisinger-Lewistown Hospital is constructing a new sleep lab on the second floor of the hospital, which will expand our capacity to provide prompt and effective service to our patients,” expressed AJ Hartsock, associate vice president of Operations at Geisinger-Lewistown Hospital.

Work on the sleep lab commenced in October 2024, with renovations slated to continue throughout 2025, transforming the hospital’s sleep study capabilities.

According to Hartsock, the enhanced sleep lab will feature five state-of-the-art beds that will “provide for increased access to (our) patients and the ability to schedule sleep studies in a timely manner,” significantly improving patient experience.

The comprehensive project involves the construction of a new sleep lab, the conversion of the previous sleep lab into additional inpatient rooms, the creation of further inpatient facilities on the sixth floor, and renovations to existing patient rooms on the third and fourth floors.
