The consortium is an option for those who want to use the additional money to invest in their own home or a new car. The modality allows the person to acquire a letter of credit according to their budget, avoiding an impulse purchase that could harm their finances. Furthermore, there is the possibility of reducing, bringing forward or paying off installments at any time.
Each year, the consortium has proven to be a practical option for acquiring an asset. According to the latest bulletin published by Brazilian Association of Consortium Administrators (ABAC)between the months of January and September the modality recorded a real growth of 7% in sales of new quotas, compared to the same period in 2023. “The various advantages that the consortium offers to consumers, such as, for example, the values attractiveness of the plots, makes them increasingly seek investment”, states the document.
The executive director of Bancorbrás Consórcios, José Climério Silva Souza, explains that “the consortium member can be selected through monthly draws and also through free and fixed bids, and can even deduct part of the value of the bid offered from the letter of credit. It’s an opportunity to access credit more quickly and with less bureaucracy.”
Plus, it’s a way to make good use of extra money. “It’s an alternative to planning financially and not being tempted to spend your entire 13th salary during the festive period, on holiday trips or on Black Friday promotions, for example”, argues José Climério.
