Renovation of Municipal Swimming Pool Moves Forward with 3.1 Million Euro Investment

The Municipal Swimming Pool: Where the Only Thing More Exciting Than the Water is the Bureaucracy

Ah, the thrill of a municipal swimming pool renovation! It’s not exactly the most electrifying topic, but stick with me, folks, because we’re about to dive into a world of excitement, intrigue, and… well, a lot of numbers.

So, it seems the Institute for Sports Credit has given the thumbs up for the municipality to take out a mortgage to finance the renovation of the external pool. Wow, I bet you’re on the edge of your seat. The municipality can now collect a whopping 2.4 million euros, and with that, they can start making plans to collect the remaining 700,000 euros from the ‘Sports and suburbs’ tender. I mean, who doesn’t love a good tender? It’s like a game of bureaucratic bingo!

But wait, there’s more! The new pool will be a staggering 50 meters long, with a maximum depth of two meters and a minimum depth of 1.35 meters. I’m no expert, but that sounds like a lot of water. And let’s not forget the 117 units of changing rooms, catering area, and bathrooms. Because, you know, the most important thing about a swimming pool is the facilities. I mean, who needs to actually swim when you can enjoy a nice cup of coffee and a sandwich in the café?

Now, I know what you’re thinking: "How much is this going to set us back?" Well, let me tell you, it’s a mere 3.1 million euros. A small price to pay for the chance to swim in a pool that’s almost as long as a football pitch.

But the excitement doesn’t stop there! The municipality is also planning to redevelop the ‘middle ground’ area, which has been in dire need of repair for years. Apparently, the roof was leaking, and the concrete was disintegrating. Sounds like a real thrill-ride. I mean, who needs a swimming pool when you can have a game of "spot the leaky roof"?

And, of course, no renovation would be complete without a bit of controversy. Luciana Barlocci, a member of the minority, has pointed out that this is the busiest time of year for the facility. Ah, but that’s just a minor detail. I’m sure the patrons won’t mind a bit of chaos and disruption while they’re trying to enjoy a peaceful swim.

In conclusion, the municipal swimming pool renovation is shaping up to be a real nail-biter. With its thrilling bureaucracy, exciting tender process, and downright electrifying facilities, it’s a wonder anyone can contain their excitement. So, if you’re looking for a good time, be sure to head on down to the pool and experience it all for yourself. Just don’t forget your towel… and your sense of humor.

The Details:

  • 2.4 million euros: The amount the municipality can collect from the Institute for Sports Credit
  • 700,000 euros: The amount the municipality will collect from the ‘Sports and suburbs’ tender
  • 3.1 million euros: The total cost of the renovation
  • 50 meters: The length of the new pool
  • 117 units: The number of changing rooms, catering area, and bathrooms
  • 400,000 euros: The cost of redeveloping the ‘middle ground’ area
  • 100,000 euros: The amount contributed by the Marche region
  • 1.03 million euros: The amount invested in the facility in December 2022

The municipal swimming pool has secured a crucial yes from the Institute for Sports Credit, paving the way for the renovation of the external pool. This development enables the municipality to access the allocated 2.4 million euros and subsequently finalize the agreement with the Ministerial Department for Sport to obtain the remaining 700 thousand euros from the ‘Sports and suburbs’ tender. As a result, the next phase will involve the issuance of the tender and the assignment of the works, with construction potentially commencing in the spring of next year. The ambitious project aims to transform the pool into a state-of-the-art facility, boasting a 50-meter length, a maximum depth of two meters, and a minimum depth of 1.35 meters. Additionally, the new pool will feature a separate entrance, 117 units of changing rooms, a catering area, and bathrooms, while preserving 80% of the existing structure and safeguarding all possible areas.

The total investment for the renovation is estimated to be around 3.1 million euros. However, this is not the only intervention planned for the swimming facility, as the municipality has also approved the executive project for the redevelopment of the ‘middle ground’. This project addresses the long-standing issues with the two-thirds portion of the plant, including the changing rooms on the ground floor and the gyms on the first floor. The offices have highlighted the urgent need for action due to the permanent infiltration of rainwater from the roof, which has caused significant damage to the concrete covers of the main beams, the roof slab, and the wooden flooring. Furthermore, the disintegration of the roof has had severe consequences on the rooms underneath the south side roof, including the space intended for spectators.

The offices will shortly identify the company responsible for carrying out the intervention, despite criticism from the minority regarding the timing of the project. The redevelopment of the ‘middle ground’ is estimated to cost 400 thousand euros, with 100 thousand euros provided by the Marche region. This investment is part of a broader effort to revamp the facility, following the municipality’s intervention in December 2022, which involved removing the old covering and installing a new wooden roof, as well as renovating the rooms and equipment of the indoor swimming pool. The total investment for the previous intervention was 1.03 million euros, with 260 thousand euros provided by the Ministerial Department for Sport. The current project marks a significant milestone in the transformation of the outdoor pool.
