At the presentation of “Athens Talks”, a new institution of dialogue and interaction with citizens with the aim of improving everyday life in the wider area of the capital, the regional governor of Attica, Nikos Hardalias, referred to the planning of projects that are to be carried out in the immediate future.
Specifically, Mr. Hardalias pointed out that in the Region of Attica a comprehensive plan of 280+1 projects has been prepared, with a total expenditure of 2.16 billion. euro. These are projects of various categories, which will be executed in all the municipalities of the Attica Region (66 in number).
Nikos Hardalias placed particular emphasis on the financing of these projects, saying characteristically that “the 280+1 will be completed based on secured resources and, in fact, from 19 different sources”.
In more detail, the immediate priority is the anti-flood protection of Attica, with 54 projects, costing 454 million. euros, which at this stage are already “mature”, i.e. ready for auction. In fact, on December 19, the studies of the projects in question will be submitted for approval to the Regional Council”.
The time horizon for the completion of the 54 basic anti-flood projects for the shielding of Attica is four years, until 2028.
Then, as noted by Nikos Hardalias, studies will be promoted for another 104 infrastructure projects in Attica, in combination with the master plan of the Ministry of Infrastructure and that of the Attica Region.
In addition to anti-flooding, the Regional Governor of Attica explained that the planning of the projects includes 64 interventions to increase green areas, while 47 actions focus on people, with welfare and social infrastructure initiatives.
According to the Regional Governor of Attica, the regeneration of Falirikos Ormos, due to its size and the multidimensional intervention it requires, is one of the most important projects for changing everyday life in the capital. In support of this, Mr. Hardalias reminded that the budget of this particular reconstruction will absorb 370 million. euros, as a special category project.
Nikos Hardalias underlined that the Prime Minister, Kyriakos Mitsotakis shows a personal interest in the planning and progress of projects in the Attica Region.
