Aboul Gheit stressed during his speech at the G7 ministerial meeting in the city of Fiogi, Italy, with the participation of a group of Arab foreign ministers, that “Israel is not above the law and is not beyond the scope of punishment.”
Aboul Gheit praised the International Criminal Court’s decision to issue arrest warrants against Israeli leaders for committing war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza, according to a statement by the official spokesman for the Secretary-General of the Arab League.
Aboul Gheit stressed that this decision confirms the international community’s recognition of the Israeli crimes in the Gaza Strip, including killing children and women, starving the Strip’s population, and destroying the Strip’s infrastructure over the course of more than a full year.
The Secretary-General of the League stressed that the only way to achieve a ceasefire, whether in Gaza or in Lebanon, is to take stronger positions by the international community against Israel, including banning the export of weapons to the occupying state to pressure to stop the massacres.
Aboul Gheit called on the G7 to take the step of recognizing the “independent Palestinian state” as an important step with the aim of implementing the two-state solution, which all Western countries have confirmed their conviction is the only solution to the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.
Aboul Gheit held the international community responsible for protecting the Palestinian people, emphasizing the importance of adhering to the values of the United Nations in the catastrophic humanitarian situation of the residents of the Gaza Strip due to the occupation forces not allowing humanitarian aid to enter the Strip, which represents a full-fledged war crime.
The Secretary-General of the League of Arab States participated in the G7 ministerial meeting in the city of Fiogi, Italy, in the presence of a group of foreign ministers of the Arab countries, namely Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, the UAE Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, and the Qatari Minister of State.
