Regensburg (OTS) –

The event “Germany meets Qingdao: How well do you know traditional Chinese festivals?” was successfully carried out in Regensburg, the sister city of Qingdao. The event was sponsored by the information office of the Qingdao city administration and co-organized by the German-Chinese Friendship and Cultural Exchange Association Regensburg. The aim was to promote cultural understanding and further strengthen the connection between the two cities.

Participants were able to experience a variety of cultural highlights, including informative videos that introduced key traditional Chinese festivals such as the Spring Festival, the Dragon Boat Festival and the Mid-Autumn Festival. The videos offered a glimpse into the unique customs, traditions and signature foods of these celebrations, such as writing Spring Festival couplets, giving red envelopes, dragon boat racing and enjoying mooncakes.

An interactive quiz deepened the experience and tested the participants’ knowledge of the festival traditions presented. Winners received special gifts from Qingdao, including festive couplets, Qingdao postcards, landscape-themed stamps and other memorable souvenirs.

A personal contribution from the German-Chinese Friendship and Cultural Exchange Association Regensburg complemented the program. A video was shown in which club members celebrated traditional Chinese festivals, for example by preparing meatballs or sticky rice balls together – a successful combination of Chinese traditions and local commitment.

Another highlight of the event was a fascinating photo exhibition that showcased the impressive landscapes of Qingdao. The participants were able to visually experience the beauty of the coastal city and discover its special features.

This cultural exchange event deepened mutual understanding and strengthened the friendship between Regensburg and Qingdao – a success that paves the way for further joint projects.
