Former professional baseball players Norman Carrasco and Luis Salazar, figures of Tiburones de La Guaira in the 1980s, gave a sports clinic on Tuesday in the town of San Mateo, Libertad municipality in the state of Anzoátegui.

18 players, from different categories, received instruction in the areas of pitching, batting and fielding from Carrasco and Salazar at the Indio Tabare stadium.

The activity, which took place in the morning and free of charge, also served to evaluate some players with a view to inviting them to future check-ups, organized by Major League Baseball (MLB) teams.

Importance

According to the organizers of this preparation day, it had the importance of promoting the practice of baseball in the eastern entity, where it is a discipline that arouses great interest for children, young people and adults.

The training sessions were launched thanks to the initiative of José González and Manuel Chacín, who are representatives of the Libertad minor ball school.

“We want to promote the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle, as well as foster solidarity among young people. The idea is to help boys improve in sports, just as was done with Jesús Emilio Guzmán, a prospect from Anzoatiguana,” explained the representatives of the Libertad academy.
