The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) provides weather information for Saturday, November 22 2024. According to BMKG, the seeds of tropical cyclone 96S were detected in the Indian Ocean Southwest of Sumatra, causing an increase in wind speed.

The impact was felt in the West Indian Ocean region to Southwest Sumatra, as well as the South Indian Ocean which includes the Banten and West Java areas.

In addition, BMKG informed that cyclonic circulation was detected in the West Indian Ocean in Aceh and the Natuna Sea, including the waters of North Aceh, the South China Sea north of Natuna, the Sulawesi Sea, and the southern coast of West Java to Banten. This condition increases the potential for rain around the area.

Sea wave height in most parts of Indonesia is estimated to be in the range of 0.5 to 2.5 meters.

However, BMKG urges vigilance in several areas, because sea waves in these areas can reach up to 4 meters.

Areas that need to be watched out for include the waters west of the Nias Islands to Lampung, the West Indian Ocean, Sumatra, the western and southern parts of the Sunda Strait, and the Indian Ocean South of Banten.

Apart from that, it is estimated that there will be the potential for flooding on the coast of the Riau Islands, the north coast of Central Java and the coast of West Kalimantan.
