Magallanes defeated Zulia in a festival of hits in Valencia

With the offensive production in a stellar plan for the second consecutive night, the Navegantes del Magallanes came back from a great ball game and prevailed over Águilas del Zulia with a final score of 12 runs to 10, on their return to the José Bernardo Pérez stadium in Valencia, reported Ángel Conde, press officer of La Nave Turca.

An eight-run rally in the fifth inning was enough momentum for those led by Eduardo Pérez to head towards a new victory, number 16 of the 2024-2025 campaign of the Venezuelan Professional Baseball League (LVBP). In that chapter, a total of 13 batters marched across the plate and six hits were hit, including a pair of home runs and the same number of doubles.

Before that moment, the game was 8×2 in favor of the rapacious team, who scored a total of six lines, five clean, against the Turkish starter Edwar Colina, who on this occasion only completed 3.1 innings of eight hits, four strikeouts and one ticket.

In that shipping production, those who stood out the most were outfielder Alberth Martínez and first baseman Renato Núñez. Between them they had six hits in eight at-bats with three doubles and seven RBIs, in addition to two homers by the second. In this sense, the slugger reached four multi-homer games in the current contest.

Núñez’s phrases

“I have said it from the beginning, the important thing is that the hits go out to help the team, today I was able to hit two home runs that helped to win the game and that it continues like this,” were the words of Núñez, naval fourth hitter, who arrived to 14 home runs and 43 produced in the harvest. “Achieving this victory coming from behind is super important for us, and even more so winning here at home, which had been a bit difficult for us, so doing it against Zulia, which is a strong team, helps us focus on tomorrow’s game.”

As for Martínez, he was the one who hit the hit that turned the box score around in that productive fifth inning, and also scored three more runs. In general, 15 hits were hit and of the starters only Diego Rincones and Angelo Castellano did not accumulate hits.

“Daily work is what has allowed me to reap the fruits that are being seen in the game. Today we did not give up even though the score was wide, so the most important thing was that we won,” Martínez said. “We really have a good chemistry, a brotherhood and that’s why we are playing as a team, like a family, that’s how the results are coming.”

The Raptors added one in the sixth and another in the eighth against deliveries by Bryan Mata and Bubby Rossman, respectively, the second courtesy of the second home run of the game for José Pirela.

Gutiérrez emerged victorious

In the totals, Alfred Gutiérrez (1-1) took the victory in 0.2 innings of one hit and one strikeout, Ismael Guillón (1-1) took the loss by allowing three earned runs and not completing a third, and Wilking Rodríguez (5) got the save.

In this way, the ship will travel this Thursday to Caracas to face the Tiburones de La Guaira at the University Stadium, with the North American Derek West on the hill in what will be his fourth presentation of the event.
