Financial life

Neymar Jr., currently at Al-Hilal, occupies a place in the Top 50 of the richest athletes in history, with an estimated fortune of US$1.01 billion (around R$5 billion), according to the specialized website Pórtico.

Despite this, Neymar Pai surprised by revealing that he became rich even before his own son. The businessman said that, during the years when Neymar played for Santos and had a monthly salary of R$200,000, he earned around R$40 million annually.

“I made more money with my son. I got rich before him. In 2013, Neymar’s highest salary was R$200,000. Neymar didn’t have R$5 million in his account when he left Santos. And I was already earning R$40 million a year as a company”he detailed.

For years, Neymar Pai’s company has been responsible for managing the striker’s career and image. He highlighted his position within the business. “Since 2006, Neymar has been a client of my company. Neymar is CPF, I am CNPJ (owner of the company and his image). But all the decisions are his. Today, 90% of our contracts are from abroad [do país]“, concluded. Watch the full conversation:

(clears throat) Alright, folks, gather ’round! Today we’ve got a tale of family, football, and a healthy dose of paternal one-upmanship. (winks)

So, Neymar Pai, the legendary patriarch of the Neymar family, has been spilling the beans about his kids, Neymar Jr. and Rafaella Santos. Now, I’m not sure what’s more impressive, the fact that Neymar Jr. is a superstar footballer or that his dad is still trying to one-up him even with all that success. (chuckles) I mean, talk about a competitive family!

During an appearance on RoundCast, Neymar Pai revealed that his daughter Rafaella is the one who keeps him on his toes more than his son. Ah, I’m sure it has nothing to do with the fact that she’s an influencer and has a gazillion followers on social media. (rolls his eyes) “I have a daughter – and she will hear this – who is more work than my son,” he said with a chuckle. Oh, Dad, you sly devil, always playing the game!

But, of course, Neymar Pai couldn’t resist taking a sly dig at his son, saying he was the one who became rich before Neymar Jr. Ah, because that’s the real measure of success, kids – not the fact that your son is a global football sensation, but that you made more money off him before he did! (in a silly voice) “I made more money with my son. I got rich before him…” I mean, I’m sure that’s exactly what every parent wants to hear from their offspring’s manager – “Hey, kiddo, I’m the real cash cow here!”

And don’t even get me started on the business side of things. It turns out Neymar Pai’s company has been raking it in, handling Neymar Jr.’s career and image since 2006. Who needs a super-agent when you’ve got your old man on the case, right? “Since 2006, Neymar has been a client of my company,” he said. Ah, I’m sure it’s purely coincidental that his son just happens to be one of the most marketable athletes on the planet.

Now, I know what you’re thinking – what’s the takeaway from all this? Well, folks, it’s simple: if you want to make it big, just get a wealthy dad with a head for business and a love of one-upmanship. And if you’re already a global superstar, well, you’re probably stuck with your dad being the real boss anyway. Cheers to Neymar Pai, the ultimate proof that blood is thicker than water – especially when that water is filled with millions of dollars!

(Rowan Atkinson chimes in) Ah, but you see, dear fellow, it’s all about the art of subtle bragging. One must always maintain a veneer of modesty while secretly gloating about one’s family’s success. (clears throat) I do believe I’ve perfected the art myself over the years… (smirks)

(Ricky Gervais interrupts) Oh, come on, Rowan, don’t be such a sly one. Let’s get real here – Neymar Pai is essentially saying, “I’m the real boss, and I made more money off my son than he did!” (laughs) It’s like me saying, “I’m the real genius behind Karl Pilkington’s success… oh wait, I am!” (chuckles)

(Lee Evans bursts in) Hold on, lads, let’s not forget the crucial bit – the financials! Neymar Pai’s company made R$40 million a year while Neymar Jr. was playing for Santos? That’s like, er… (tries to do math on fingers) …a lot of dosh! I mean, I could get used to having a son like that, mate! (laughs)

(The quadruple-voiced commentator clears his throat, a mix of Jimmy Carr’s sly humor and the rest of the group’s irreverent banter) Ah, the things parents do for love… and money. I’ve got a great one: “What do you call a parent who exploits their child’s success for personal gain?” (pauses for comedic effect) “A manager!” (group laughter ensues)
