Authorities of the International Courier and Exchange Company, from Correos de Cuba, promised “speed and efficiency” in the handling of parcels in the country, with the new automated plant.
According to a report in the local press, in the capital, an “elite” team of young people from the International Messaging and Exchange Company (EMCI) is working tirelessly on the assembly of the new automated plant intended for the processing of international shipments.
They noted that “despite electrical limitations and climatic adversities, the work is progressing steadily” and currently the metal structures, mats and technological modules are being installed in the work stations, configuring a space that is beginning to take definitive shape.
Technological assembly is expected to be completed this year, with commissioning planned for the first quarter of 2025.
This installation, according to Correos de Cuba, promises streamline postal shipping, Courier parcel and express courier operationsstrengthening the efficiency of Correos de Cuba in international trade.
Cuban Post Office, EMCI and Cuban Customs
The installation process of the new automated plant of Correos de Cuba included the visit of Nelson Cordovés Reyes, head of the General Customs of the Republic (AGR), who, together with the management of EMCI, adjusted details to guarantee the operation plant coordination.
They specified that the “joint effort” will ensure that the facility is prepared to face the growing demands of the international parcel shipping sector to Cuba, marking a milestone in the modernization of the courier and logistics service in the country, especially what concerns Cuban Post Office.
The new plant symbolizes a significant step towards EMCI’s technological transformation, key to driving national development, they said.
Recently, this entity launched its online store, as reported by the Business Group on Facebook, the new platform will market “school and office supplies and other high-demand items.”
