Help after an abortion

An abortion is a traumatic experience for many women. Even when you are sure you have made the right decision. Feelings of loss, sadness, anger, guilt, or relief after an abortion are normal. These feelings usually disappear after a few days or weeks. The circumstances in which you made your decision may influence the processing of the abortion.

Help with processing in an aftercare conversation

If you continue to have complaints and are bothered by them in your daily life, seek help. You can contact us for free aftercare consultations. In one or more conversations, our trained counselors provide guidance in processing an abortion.

Even if you have not spoken to a choice counselor or if the abortion was some time ago, you can request an aftercare consultation. If a referral to another care provider is necessary or desired, we will take care of this.

Let’s Talk About the “A” Word: Help after an Abortion

Ah, abortion—it’s the topic that can make dinner parties go from delightful to *awkward* faster than you can say “who brought the kale?” But here’s the thing: for many women, it’s a traumatic experience, like realizing your favorite sitcom has been canceled. Even if you’re convinced you’ve made the right choice, a wash of emotions can wash over you: feelings of loss, sadness, anger, guilt, and yes, even the odd bit of relief. Sounds fun, right? But don’t worry; you’re not alone in this rollercoaster ride of feelings!

Aftercare: Because You Deserve Support

Now, if those feelings hang around like that one friend who overstays their welcome, it might be time to seek help. There’s no shame in that! In fact, it’s proactive—like paying for a gym membership and NOT using it. You can reach out for free aftercare consultations where trained counselors provide just the right blend of guidance and compassion to help process what you’ve been through. Think of them as the personal trainers for your emotional biceps. 💪

Remember, it doesn’t matter if you didn’t speak to a choice counselor before or if your abortion was ages ago. If your feelings are still crashing your mental party, give them a call. And if you need a referral to another care provider, they’ve got you covered like a good pair of Spanx.

How to Make an Appointment—It’s Easy!

If you’re thinking, “Alright, I’m ready to talk,” here’s how you can make that happen:

  • Call 023-789 1610 from Monday to Friday between 9:00 AM and 12:00 PM. Be sure to have a cup of tea first; you’ll want to be relaxed.
  • After noon, you can call the general number of the GGD Kennemerland at 023-515 9500—it’s available on working days until 5 PM, for when you want that 5 o’clock pick-me-up!
  • Prefer typing over talking? Shoot an email to [email protected]. That way, you can express your feelings without worrying about getting nervous and accidentally saying something embarrassing.

More Resources: Get the Support You Need

Still unsure? The FIOM Expertise Center offers online help and guidance. Think of it as your emotional GPS for navigating the tricky terrain of feelings post-abortion. Because let’s face it: sometimes we could use a little map-reading when we’re feeling lost, and no, Google Maps won’t help with that!

So, if you’ve been through an abortion or are struggling with the fallout, know that there is support out there. It’s a bit like being in therapy—except you get to keep your sweatpants on. Cheers to taking care of your mental health!
