Bravos beat Leones in a duel held in Caracas

Bravos de Margarita closed the mini-tour of Barquisimeto and Caracas 2-2, after beating Leones, 13 runs to 8, this Wednesday, at the Monumental stadium in Caracas-Simón Bolívar, remaining solid in first place in the League table Venezuelan Professional Baseball Association (LVBP), reported Trina Ballesteros, press officer of the island group.

“Offensively, we have done an excellent job, the guys are following the plan, we are having better at-bats than at the beginning of the season and that, obviously, is being seen in the way we are scoring runs. The pitching, although today (Wednesday) we were a little shaky, we were able to minimize the damage, to return home with a positive balance,” said manager José Moreno, after achieving Margarita’s new victory in the La Rinconada arena.

The brave strategist explained “this is one of the characteristics that this team has, they give you a low blow and it seems that they knock the air out of you and you will return with your head down, but this group is not like that. “They are fighting, they are committed to what they want, everyone is doing their job.”

Olivares spoke about the island’s success

For his part, Edward Olivares highlighted: “We are a family, we are a team, we go out to compete every time they give us the opportunity. “Everyone goes out to contribute their grain of sand and, thank God, the results are coming.”

“I always tell my teammates: We are going to play hard, game after game, pitch after pitch. Thank God we are very united, very focused and involved in the game and the results are coming out,” added the man from Caracas, who went 3-for-5 with a pair of doubles, three scored and two scored.

From the first inning, Bravos began production with a three-run cluster, starting with a single by Wilson Ramos, who scored Juan Santana with the first. Immediately, “El Búfalo” also stepped on the plate, along with Moisés Gómez, thanks to a double from José “Tilín” Martínez.

In the second chapter three more arrived for the Margarita cause with Gustavo Campero’s tubey base sweeper, which promoted Jeremy Rivas and Edward Olivares. Immediately afterwards, the Colombian big league also made the cash register ring, thanks to Santana’s hit.

The locals scored, in the lower part of the inning, with solo home runs by Víctor Bericoto and Harold Castro.

In the third inning, Margarita added three more to her tally with the second home run of the season by Jeremy Rivas, with Edgar Durán on board, and a single by Campero, which sent Olivares back to the plate.

In the lower part of the episode, Leones scored with a grand slam by Harold Castro, with José Rondón, Aldrem Corredor and Bericoto on base.

More races at the Monumental

Bravos added the 10th line, in the fifth, which came with a sacrifice fly from “Búfalo” Ramos, who sent Olivares straight home. In the next chapter, the same brave outfielder would be in charge of chartering two more, with a double that chartered Pedro Martínez and Rivas.

In that same inning, the locals added one more with a sacrifice fly by Carlos Tocci, who sent René Pinto to the plate.

Bravos gave final figures to the match in the top of the ninth with a single by Santana, which sent Campero home.

The victory went to Alfonso Hernández (1-0), after relief of an inning in which he struck out one, had an unearned run and received a couple of hits. The setback belonged to Luis Palacios (0-1), who only worked 1.1 innings in which he got six runs, all clean, received seven hits, did not walk and fanned two.
