The developments in the official opposition party, with Theodora Tzakri, are fast-paced to reiterate today her intention to resign today from the position of secretary of the Parliamentary Group and from the SYRIZA bodies, adding that for the time being she remains in the parliamentary group of the party.
At the same time, Ms. Tzakri left open the possibility of leaving SYRIZA, noting that “my actions will evolve in the coming days”.
As she also said in another part of her interview with ANT1, “there is a plan”.

How might the recent leadership struggles within SYRIZA affect the party’s future role in Greek politics?
**Interview with Political Analyst Dr. Elena Papadopoulos on the Recent Developments in Greece’s SYRIZA Party**
**Interviewer:** Thank you for joining us today, Dr. Papadopoulos. We’re witnessing significant shifts within Greece’s SYRIZA party, particularly with Theodora Tzakri’s recent announcement regarding her resignation. Can you start by explaining the context of these developments?
**Dr. Papadopoulos:** Absolutely. Theodora Tzakri’s decision to resign as the secretary of the Parliamentary Group and from SYRIZA’s internal bodies highlights a period of turmoil within the party. SYRIZA, once the main opposition party in Greece, has been facing internal strife and leadership challenges that are now affecting its overall cohesion and strategy [[1](https://abcnews.go.com/International/wireStory/greeces-left-wing-syriza-loses-status-main-opposition-116088652)].
**Interviewer:** What do you think prompted Tzakri’s resignation at this particular moment?
**Dr. Papadopoulos:** Tzakri’s resignation can be seen as a response to the ongoing leadership battle within SYRIZA. This struggle has been exacerbated by the party’s recent loss of its status as the main opposition group in Parliament. Such a loss likely creates pressure on its leaders to reevaluate their strategies, and resignations like Tzakri’s signal deepening fractures within the party [[1](https://abcnews.go.com/International/wireStory/greeces-left-wing-syriza-loses-status-main-opposition-116088652)].
**Interviewer:** How do you foresee the impact of her departure on SYRIZA’s future?
**Dr. Papadopoulos:** Tzakri’s resignation could further destabilize the party, especially if other key figures follow her lead. The internal dynamics may hinder its ability to present a unified front against the ruling government. Without strong leadership, SYRIZA may struggle to regain its footing as a credible opposition, potentially leading to a diminished role in Greek politics [[1](https://abcnews.go.com/International/wireStory/greeces-left-wing-syriza-loses-status-main-opposition-116088652)].
**Interviewer:** Given these developments, what should we look for in the near future regarding SYRIZA’s leadership?
**Dr. Papadopoulos:** I think it will be critical to watch for any new leadership candidates emerging and how they propose to unify the party and regain lost ground. Additionally, the response of the party’s base to these changes will be telling. If significant discontent arises, it could signal broader issues that SYRIZA may need to address to stay relevant [[1](https://abcnews.go.com/International/wireStory/greeces-left-wing-syriza-loses-status-main-opposition-116088652)].
**Interviewer:** Thank you, Dr. Papadopoulos, for your insights on this rapidly evolving situation within SYRIZA.
**Dr. Papadopoulos:** Thank you for having me. It will be interesting to see how this unfolds in the coming weeks.
