After the long discussions about the streets in the state capital Salzburg named after Nazi perpetrators or Nazi followers, the first renaming has now been finalized: Heinrich-Damisch-Straße in the Parsch district of Salzburg will become Helene–Thimig-Straße in 2025. A corresponding official report is to be approved by the cultural committee of the Salzburg municipal council next week. The majority is secured with the votes of the SPÖ, KPÖ and the Citizens’ List – the ÖVP and FPÖ have always defended the Nazi names and spoken out against renaming.
