Vienna (OTS) –

On Saturday November 23rd, 120 delegates took part in the state conference of the Socialist Youth in Vienna to elect a board and decide on substantive positions. State chairwoman Rihab Toumi and state secretary Samuel Schillhammer were both re-elected with over 90 percent.

Under the motto “We have a world to win!” Among other things, several proposals regarding the current shift to the right around the world were discussed. “We know that a better world is possible. A world where I don’t have to worry about being subjected to sexist discrimination just because I’m a woman. A world where wars are finally a thing of the past and peace is the norm. A world where pressure to perform is no longer the norm, but where we learn things because it’s fun. A world in which we share work together so that everyone makes their contribution so that we have a functioning society. We have to fight together for this world! “says Rihab Toumi in her speech.

The elected state executive board will begin its work and advocate for the agreed demands over the next two years.

How does Rihab ‌Toumi’s‍ vision ⁤for a transformed⁤ society address the challenges faced by youth today, ⁣particularly in the context of discrimination and inequality?

**Interview with Rihab Toumi, State Chairwoman of ⁣the ⁤Socialist ⁣Youth in Vienna**

**Interviewer:** Thank you for joining us today, Rihab. Congratulations‌ on your re-election! At the recent state conference, ⁤you highlighted the need for a transformative⁣ vision under the motto “We ‍have a world to win!” Can you elaborate ⁣on what this vision entails?

**Rihab⁢ Toumi:** Thank you for having me! Our vision ⁣is rooted in the⁤ belief that ‍a better ⁤world is not just a dream, but a ‍real possibility. We aspire to create a society where individuals don’t face ⁣discrimination, where peace‌ prevails, and where education is enjoyable rather than a source of stress. It’s about collaboration and shared responsibility so that everyone can contribute positively to our community.

**Interviewer:** ⁢You mentioned⁣ discussing the current shift to the right globally. How do you see this ⁤affecting young people’s engagement in politics, and what role does the Socialist ⁣Youth play in ⁣this context?

**Rihab Toumi:**⁢ The⁢ rise of right-wing ideologies is indeed concerning, especially⁣ for young people ‌who may feel alienated or discouraged. However, it also fuels‍ our determination to mobilize and engage‍ more youth⁤ in political discourse. The Socialist Youth aims to empower young voices to advocate for ⁣progressive change and stand up against discrimination, militarization, and ⁢economic inequality.

**Interviewer:** In your speech, you talked about the need⁣ to fight together for ⁢this envisioned world. What⁣ steps will ⁢the newly elected executive board take to fulfill these ambitions over the next two years?

**Rihab Toumi:** Our board ⁤is committed to implementing programs⁣ that educate ‌and mobilize young people ⁤around our key issues. We will develop initiatives focused on gender equality, environmental sustainability,‌ and social justice. Additionally, we’ll create platforms for open dialog, encouraging young individuals to voice their ideas and concerns, ensuring that everyone feels represented.

**Interviewer:**⁣ Your vision is ambitious, and it seeks to address significant societal issues. What do you say to skeptics who might doubt the feasibility of such changes?

**Rihab Toumi:** Skepticism is ⁣natural, especially in today’s socio-political climate. However,‍ I believe ⁣in the power of youth activism. Many changes throughout history began as ambitious ideas that‌ seemed unattainable at first. What’s essential is persistence, collective ⁣action, and a willingness to engage in tough conversations. We must inspire hope while acknowledging the hard⁤ work ahead.

**Interviewer:** To wrap up, what message do you have‌ for young individuals who might be ⁣contemplating their ⁣role in shaping the future?

**Rihab Toumi:** I want every young person to know that their voice ⁣matters. Engage with your communities, challenge injustices, ‍and don’t be afraid to ‍envision a different future. Change often starts ⁣with ‍belief in possibility—and together, that belief can transform into ⁣action.

**Interviewer:** Thank you, Rihab, for sharing your insights and vision‌ with us today. We look forward ⁤to seeing the impact of your work in the coming years!

**Debate Question for the Readers:** ⁢Given Rihab Toumi’s vision‌ for a more equitable and peaceful society, how do you believe young people can effectively mobilize against the rising right-wing sentiments⁤ globally?
