- At the end of October, the Honor brand presented the new flagship model Magic 7 Pro
- It is now sold only in China, but our editors had the exclusive opportunity to test it ahead of time
- The equipment includes the top Snapdragon 8 Elite, a waterproof body, a 3D face scanner and high-quality photo equipment
- The novelty will arrive on the Czech market in the second half of January next year
Not only Honor, but also other Chinese manufacturers first launch their flagship models on the domestic market and then aim for the world market with them. This will not be the case with the hot new Honor Magic 7 Pro, which officially saw the light of day on October 30. Our editors received an invitation from Honor to China, where we could try the phone exclusively. In addition to these immediate first impressions, we are preparing two more interesting articles for you. We had the opportunity to visit the Honor factory in Shenzhen, where smartphones are manufactured, as well as the stylish Flagship Store in Chengdu.
Honor Magic 7 Pro live
In the domestic Chinese market, the new model from Honor is a big hit. During our travels, we saw a lot of advertising billboards for phones, the overwhelming majority of which were about the Magic 7 Pro. The Honor Magic 7 Pro should appear on the Czech market in the second half of January. We do not know the price yet, but we estimate that it will be slightly higher than in the case of the Magic 6 Pro, mainly due to the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset used, for which Qualcomm charges higher fees. The selling price of the “six” was CZK 30,990, however, it was possible to get a discount of CZK 5,000 immediately at the start of the sale, which brought the phone to CZK 25,990.
The equipment was definitely not spared
Looking at the hardware, it is clear that the Honor Magic 7 Pro is a smartphone with almost no compromises. We have also seen changes in the design, thanks to which the novelty seems much more mature. The sides of the phone are now straight, the glass back and the display are slightly rounded on all sides. I also praise the very thin frame around the display. However, it is not a small thing in terms of feeling – the overall dimensions are 162.7 x 77.1 x 8.8 mm, the weight is 223 grams.
The prominent feature of the back is the circular photomodule with a metal border that protrudes a few millimeters. Magic 7 Pro boasts two degrees of protection IP68 & IP69. This assembly is not quite common, in the case of the second standard, Honor states that it is an increased resistance to hot splashing water.
The front is dominated by a spacious 6.8″ OLED panel with a Full HD+ resolution (1280 × 2800 px), a dynamic refresh rate (1 to 120 Hz) and a maximum brightness of 1600 nits (temporary peak for HDR content is up to 5000 nits). The display protected by Honor Rhino Glass includes not only an ultrasonic fingerprint reader, which is really fast, but also an oval cut-out for a 50 Mpx selfie camera with an aperture of f/2.0 and, above all, an improved 3D face scanner that works similarly to Face ID on iPhones and an ordinary photo you definitely won’t fool him.

Photo equipment: variable aperture and 200 Mpx telephoto lens
The trio of cameras will certainly not embarrass you. The phone contained a test version of the software (MagicOS 9.0 built on Android 15) and the quality can still be improved before it is launched on the Czech market, but even so the results are not bad at all, even when taking photos and recording in poor lighting conditions.
Honor Magic 7 Pro and the Camera app
The surprise is the 200Mpx resolution of the telephoto lens, thanks to which you can use not only a three-fold optical zoom, but also a six-fold hybrid one. You can view the test images in the gallery below. However, for a more detailed evaluation, we will wait until a piece designed specifically for our market arrives at our editorial office.
Specifically, the protruding module houses a trio of cameras in the following configuration:
- 50 Mpx main with optical stabilization and variable aperture f/1.4-f/2.0
- 50 Mpx wide-angle with 122° angle of view, macro function (from 2.5 cm) and f/2.0 aperture
- 200Mpx periscopic with 3x optical zoom (up to 100x digital), optical stabilization and f/2.6 aperture
What is the variable aperture for?
The variable aperture of a mobile phone camera is used to better control the amount of light that hits the sensor, thereby improving the quality of photos in different lighting conditions. In low light, the wide aperture (f/1.4) lets in more light, resulting in brighter images with less noise. Conversely, in sufficient or strong lighting, such as outdoors on a sunny day, a narrower aperture (f/2.0) is used to limit the amount of light, preventing overexposure and improving depth of field. The variable aperture increases the versatility of the camera, enabling the capture of more detailed scenes and at the same time creating a more natural depth of field not only for portrait shots.
Tip: all test images in full resolution can be found here
The Honor Magic 7 Pro can record 4K video at a frame rate of 60 fps. While 3x optical and 6x hybrid zoom is available for photography, a maximum of 2.6x zoom can be used for video recording.
Snapdragon 8 Elite
The driving engine of the new product is the recently introduced flagship 3nm Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, which boasts both enormous performance and incredible efficiency. In addition, Honor gave this chip an efficient cooling system consisting of a 3D evaporator chamber made of stainless steel, a layer of graphite and a layer of cooling gel – the total area of the cooling system measures 30,000 mm2.
In the Weather application, you can find practical information on how to wear warm clothes, whether it is suitable for outdoor sports, but also what the season is in terms of the intensity of the spread of viruses, whether it makes sense to wash the car due to the current forecast.
In the AnTuTu benchmark 10, we measured an average of three tests with a very high score of 3,073,442 points. Honor “packages” a generous capacity of 12 or 16 GB of operating memory with the chipset, and the storage can then reach capacities of 256 or 512 GB (UFS 4.0). However, we do not yet know which memory (and color) variants will be available on our market.
The capacity of the silicon-carbon battery (5,850 mAh) is also generous, while 100W cable charging and 80W wireless charging are supported. However, a variant with a slightly lower capacity of around 5,200 mAh will appear in Europe. Due to the use of a third generation silicon-carbon battery, it will still be a very generous capacity.
Price and availability
As I announced in the introduction, the Honor Magic 7 Pro has so far only been presented in China, where it has been sold since November 8 in black, white, blue and a kind of “marble” color. In addition to the Pro variant, the lightweight Honor Magic 7 Lite will appear on the Czech market. On the contrary, the basic version will not be available here. We do not yet know the local price, but we estimate that it will range from 27 to 29 thousand CZK.

Officially launched on October 30, our editorial team received an exclusive invitation to experience the phone firsthand in its native country. Alongside our initial impressions, we have two more in-depth articles in the pipeline; one showcases our visit to the Honor factory nestled in Shenzhen, where these cutting-edge smartphones are crafted, while the other takes you through the sleek Flagship Store located in Chengdu.
In the Chinese market, the Honor Magic 7 Pro has become immensely popular. Throughout our visit, striking advertising billboards promoting the phone were omnipresent, underlining its market impact. While specific pricing details are yet to be revealed for the Czech market, it is anticipated that the price point will exceed that of its predecessor, the Magic 6 Pro, due to the incorporation of the high-end Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset. The starting price for the Magic 6 Pro was CZK 30,990, but early buyers enjoyed a promotional discount of CZK 5,000, bringing the effective cost down to CZK 25,990.
The equipment was definitely not spared
Examining the hardware specifications, it is evident that the Honor Magic 7 Pro is engineered as a premier smartphone with minimal trade-offs. Notable design enhancements give the device a more refined and mature appearance, highlighted by the straighter edges and slightly rounded glass back and display. The ultra-slim frame around the display amplifies its aesthetic appeal, while the overall dimensions of 162.7 x 77.1 x 8.8 mm and weight of 223 grams provide a solid yet comfortable feel.
One of the most striking features on the back is the circular camera module, encased in a metallic border that protrudes just slightly, adding to its character. The device holds an impressive dual-degree protection rating of IP68 and IP69, a rare find that attests to its resistance against dust and water splashes, including hot water exposure.
The front screen features an expansive 6.8-inch OLED panel with a Full HD+ resolution of 1280 × 2800 px, a dynamic refresh rate that spans from 1 to 120 Hz, and an astonishing maximum brightness of 1600 nits. For HDR content, it can peak at remarkable levels up to 5000 nits. This display, safeguarded by Honor’s proprietary Rhino Glass, also houses an ultrafast ultrasonic fingerprint reader and an oval cut-out for a 50 Mpx selfie camera with an aperture of f/2.0. Most notably, it features an upgraded 3D face scanning capability, ensuring that even the most realistic photographs can’t deceive it.

Photo equipment: variable aperture and 200 Mpx telephoto lens
The camera system, with its trio of sophisticated lenses, is designed to impress. Testing the smartphone revealed that while the software is still a work in progress (MagicOS 9.0 built on Android 15), the photo quality is already commendable, even under challenged lighting conditions. The standout feature is the high-resolution 200 Mpx telephoto lens, which not only provides a three-fold optical zoom capability but also offers six-fold hybrid zoom for impressive detail. We look forward to a thorough evaluation once a model tailored for the Czech market arrives for our inspection.
Particularly, the protruding module integrates three impressive cameras with the following specifications:
- 50 Mpx main with optical stabilization and variable aperture f/1.4-f/2.0
- 50 Mpx wide-angle with 122° field of view, a macro function (from 2.5 cm) and f/2.0 aperture
- 200 Mpx periscopic with 3x optical zoom (up to 100x digital), optical stabilization and f/2.6 aperture
What is the variable aperture for?
The function of a variable aperture in a mobile camera allows for precise control over the amount of light impacting the sensor, enhancing image quality across various lighting conditions. In low-light scenarios, a wide aperture (f/1.4) captures more light, yielding brighter images with minimal noise. Conversely, in well-lit environments, a narrower aperture (f/2.0) prevents overexposure, optimizing depth of field. This feature significantly enriches the camera’s versatility, allowing for more detailed scene captures and a natural depth of field, especially beneficial for portrait photography.
The Honor Magic 7 Pro can record 4K video at a frame rate of 60 fps, while maintaining a maximum zoom limit of 2.6x during video recordings.
Snapdragon 8 Elite
The heart of the Honor Magic 7 Pro is powered by the state-of-the-art, 3nm Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, renowned for its remarkable performance and exceptional efficiency. Coupled with a sophisticated cooling system, which combines a 3D stainless steel evaporator chamber, graphite layers, and a cooling gel layer, this device ensures optimal thermal management across its 30,000 mm² cooling area. The device’s remarkable performance was validated in the AnTuTu benchmark 10, where it achieved a staggering average score of 3,073,442 points.
Offering a choice between 12 or 16 GB of RAM paired with storage options of up to 1024 GB (UFS 4.0), this powerhouse is designed to provide a seamless user experience. However, details regarding which configurations will be available in the Czech market remain undisclosed.
With a substantial silicon-carbon battery capacity of 5,850 mAh and support for both 100W cable charging and 80W wireless charging, the Honor Magic 7 Pro is engineered for longevity and performance. For the European market, a variant featuring a slightly reduced capacity of around 5,200 mAh will be introduced, but still leveraging advanced third-generation silicon-carbon technology to ensure exceptional efficiency.
Price and availability
As previously mentioned, the Honor Magic 7 Pro debuted exclusively in China, where it has been available since November 8 in a range of colors including black, white, blue, and a distinctive “marble” finish. Alongside the Pro version, the lighter Honor Magic 7 Lite will also launch in the Czech market; however, the basic version will not. While exact pricing details remain unconfirmed, experts estimate the price will fall between CZK 27,000 and CZK 29,000.
