MINISTER State Secretary (Mensesneg) Prasetyo Hadi expressed high appreciation to the Minister of Agriculture (Mentan) Andi Amran Sulaiman for his quick and effective steps in resolving the conflict between dairy farmers and the milk processing industry.
The conflict that peaked in Boyolali and Pasuruan occurred due to restrictions on milk acceptance quotas by the industry, which forced farmers to throw away thousands of liters of milk.
Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo expressed his admiration for the quick response of the Ministry of Agriculture which immediately held a meeting between breeders, collectors and industry.

“I was surprised when I received information this morning that there would be a meeting between breeders, collectors and industry initiated by the Minister of Agriculture,” said Prasetyo after the meeting at the Ministry of Agriculture Office, Ragunan, South Jakarta, Monday (11/11).
Apart from appreciating Minister of Agriculture Amran’s quick steps, Prasetyo also praised the solution approach implemented.

As a result of this mediation, Minister of Agriculture Amran committed to issuing a decree requiring the milk processing industry to absorb all milk production from farmers.
This step will be strengthened through a revision of the Presidential Regulation (Perpres) which requires industry to absorb local milk production. Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo expressed his support for this policy.
“We are ready to support the Ministry of Agriculture. “If there are regulations that hinder us, we will tidy them up,” he added.

“It is hoped that the industry’s obligation to absorb local milk will encourage them to develop farmers. “On the other hand, farmers will also be increasingly motivated to improve the quality of their milk,” explained Minister of Agriculture Amran.
Amran added that this step was in accordance with President Prabowo Subianto’s direction, who asked the government to always be present in society and make policies that could help breeders and industry players.
“Our policy must be a solution for breeders and industry players,” he concluded. (RO/Z-10)

What specific measures are being taken by the government to ensure that dairy farmers can sell their milk without facing industry quota restrictions?
**Interview with Prasetyo Hadi, Minister of State Secretary**
**Editor:** Good afternoon, Mr. Prasetyo Hadi. Thank you for joining us today to discuss the ongoing efforts to resolve conflicts between dairy farmers and the milk processing industry.
**Prasetyo Hadi:** Good afternoon, and thank you for having me.
**Editor:** Recently, you expressed your appreciation for the Minister of Agriculture, Andi Amran Sulaiman, and his rapid response to the conflicts in Boyolali and Pasuruan. What specific actions did you find commendable?
**Prasetyo Hadi:** I was very impressed by how quickly Minister Amran organized a meeting that included breeders, collectors, and industry representatives. This proactive approach was not only timely but essential in addressing the serious issue where farmers were forced to waste thousands of liters of milk due to industry quota restrictions. Immediate dialog was necessary to find sustainable solutions.
**Editor:** Can you elaborate on the nature of the conflict? Why were farmers compelled to discard their milk?
**Prasetyo Hadi:** The conflict arose primarily from restrictions placed by the milk processing industry on the amount of milk they would accept. This limitation left many dairy farmers unable to sell their product, leading to significant losses and wastage of milk. It was critical for the government to step in and mediate between these parties to ensure that the farmers are supported and that their production is not wasted.
**Editor:** It seems that this mediation has led to some promising outcomes. Can you tell us more about the commitments made by the Ministry of Agriculture to assist these farmers?
**Prasetyo Hadi:** Yes, after the meeting, Minister Amran committed to issuing a decree that mandates the milk processing industry to absorb all milk production from farmers. Additionally, we are looking at revising the Presidential Regulation to reinforce this requirement, which would create a more stable and supportive environment for our dairy farmers moving forward.
**Editor:** What do you envision as the long-term benefits of these measures for both farmers and the milk processing industry?
**Prasetyo Hadi:** It’s crucial that both farmers and the dairy industry can thrive together. By ensuring that farmers’ milk is fully absorbed by the processing sector, we not only help stabilize farmers’ incomes but also promote local production, which is healthier and more sustainable. This collaboration will enhance food security and strengthen our agricultural economy overall.
**Editor:** Thank you, Mr. Prasetyo. It’s clear that strong government intervention and dialog can lead to effective solutions for the agricultural sector.
**Prasetyo Hadi:** Thank you for shining a light on this important issue. Together, we can foster a more robust and resilient dairy industry in Indonesia.
