Next Monday in Marijampole, Gedimino St. 96, one X “Maxima” store will be closed permanently.
“After closing this store for good, the very next day, November 26, we will invite customers to visit the newly opened One X store located right next to the old Maxima. The new chain store will be more spacious, offering a wider range of carefully selected goods, so we hope that customers will like it just as much as the old one and will become an even more popular place for everyday shopping”, says the director of the Communications and Corporate Relations Department of the Lithuanian shopping chain Maxima. Indrė Trakimaitė-Šeškuviene.
For the convenience of shoppers and the surrounding residents, during the construction of the new “Maxima” store, a pedestrian path was installed near Klaipėda Street, as well as the rainwater networks in Birštonas Street. During the construction of the shopping center building, investments were also made in better lighting in Klaipėda and Birštonas streets, ensuring greater safety of residents.
The modern shopping center building built on a former abandoned plot meets A++ energy efficiency standards. More than 30 trees were planted near the store, 72 parking spaces were installed, bike racks and posts for dogs were provided.
Considering the growing number of electric cars, charging stations for electric cars were also installed near the store. In the near future, it is also planned to install additional fast charging stations for electric cars.
There will be slightly more employees in this store than in the old one – as many as 25. It will be possible to pay for goods in this store at 2 regular and 7 new generation self-service cash registers, so the payment will be not only more convenient, but also faster.
In addition, clothing, cosmetics, flower shops, a meat shop and a veterinary clinic will also be located in the same building where the new Maxima will operate. The shop will be waiting for customers every day from 8 am. until 10 p.m.

**Interview with Indrė Trakimaitė-Šeškuviene, Director of Communications and Corporate Relations at Maxima**
**Interviewer**: Thank you for joining us, Indrė. We’re here to discuss the recent changes regarding the Maxima store in Marijampole. Can you explain why the decision was made to close the current store and what customers can expect from the new One X store that will open shortly after?
**Indrė Trakimaitė-Šeškuviene**: Thank you for having me. The decision to close the existing Maxima store was not taken lightly. We recognized that as consumer needs evolve, we must adapt as well. The new One X store will be more spacious and will offer a wider selection of carefully curated goods. This change aims to enhance the shopping experience for our customers and ensure that they have access to everything they need in a pleasant environment.
**Interviewer**: That sounds promising! With the economic challenges many retailers are facing today, how do you ensure that the new store will attract customers and remain competitive?
**Indrė Trakimaitė-Šeškuviene**: Our approach involves not just expanding our product range but also focusing on the overall shopping experience. We are investing in customer service and the store layout to make it user-friendly. Being aware of the ‘retail apocalypse’ and the pressures on the market, we believe that by offering a better environment and carefully selected products, we can foster loyalty and attract new shoppers, even amidst the ongoing challenges in the retail sector [[1](https://www.cnn.com/2024/10/25/business/the-retail-apocalypse-is-back/index.html)].

**Indrė Trakimaitė-Šeškuviene**: Safety and accessibility are paramount for us. By installing a pedestrian path and enhancing street lighting, we’re not only making it easier for customers to reach us but also ensuring that they feel safe while shopping, especially during the evening hours. We believe these improvements will create a welcoming atmosphere that encourages foot traffic and supports the local community.
**Interviewer**: what message would you like to send to the current customers of Maxima as they transition to the new One X store?
**Indrė Trakimaitė-Šeškuviene**: I want to assure our customers that while the old Maxima is closing, the new One X store is opening with their needs and preferences in mind. We are committed to maintaining the same level of quality and service that they’ve come to expect, if not improving upon it. We’re excited about this change and invite everyone to visit and experience what we have to offer.
